A new channel, yes; but with a visionary old-guard at the helm! For long, news television in Kannada has lived with the reputation of being loud, opinionated, arrogant, flippant, and in-your-face. Unjustified because such a view doesn’t speak well for the relentless and honest toil of the young reporters and anchors that are working in the field; the negative reputation is essentially because of t
he positioning of those channels as ‘aggressive pushers’ – either by design or by accident. News 6 aims to change this with a fresh approach. The news, by its very nature, is omnipresent and is available to all in all the formats that we can think of and on all the platforms that the new age has offered. Such being the case, it’s perception more than the news itself that becomes more important. We at News 6 believe that we would be doing justice to our viewers only if we are able to give them a 360-degree view of the happenings. It’s how they get to consume the news that matters, as much as what they get to consume. We, therefore, intend to position our channel as a platform that focuses on perspectives, by bringing in various well-informed and well-groomed voices from among the thinkers, celebrities, commentators, and the general public. It’s a channel that aims to break the barriers by innovative programming that caters to the interests of a hugely varied audience that’s blessed with hugely varied interests. From spirituality to politics to science to sports to cinema to everything that’s a part of our lives – and also the ones that influence our lives – find a way to be articulated on our channel.
