Due to the severe cyclonic storm "Remal," which is expected to bring heavy rainfall and gusty winds from May 26th to May 29th, the Government of Tripura has issued a warning and declared educational institutions closed on May 27th and 28th, 2024.

Following this directive, Tripura University will also remain closed on these dates. All exams and academic activities scheduled during this period are postponed. Stay safe and follow all safety guidelines issued by authorities.

| Due to heavy rain and a storm, an accident occurred involving a bus carrying candidates from Tripura to Assam for the Tripura Co-operative Bank exam, resulting in the loss of one life.
The candidate who lost his life was identified as Dipraj Debbarma, with his brother-in-law and several other candidates also sustaining severe injuries.

Dipraj Debbarma hailed from Maharanipur, Salema, Dhalai District, Tripura. His father's name was Boba Ranjan Debbarma.

The bus involved had the registration number AS01 NC 0243, and the accident took place in Dittokcherra, Dimahasao, Assam.

Tripura imposes restrictions on sale of petrol and diesel due to supply constraint

The government of Tripura has decided to impose restrictions on the sale of MS (petrol) and HSD (diesel) in the state due to a supply constraint. The restrictions will be in effect from May 1, 2024, until further orders.

Under the new restrictions, two-wheelers will be able to purchase up to Rs 200 worth of petrol per day, while three-wheelers and four-wheelers will be able to purchase Rs 200 and Rs 500 worth of petrol, respectively.

Buses will be able to purchase up to 60 liters of diesel per day, while mini buses will be able to purchase up to 40 liters per day. Trucks (12 wheelers and above) will be able to purchase up to 80 liters of diesel per day, while 10 wheelers and 6 wheelers will be able to purchase up to 60 liters and 45 liters per day, respectively.

LMVs (light motor vehicles) such as jeeps will be able to purchase up to 15 liters of diesel per day, while tractors and generators will be able to purchase up to 20 liters and 10 liters per day, respectively.

There will be no restrictions on the sale of petrol and diesel to vehicles engaged in government duties and emergency services.

The restrictions have been imposed due to a supply constraint of MS and HSD due to disruption of goods movement through railway into the state.

Last year, BOROK NOW spoke to the priest of the temple in Longtharai Hill. The priest mentioned that they are seeking help from authorities to develop Longtharai Hill, where the Longtharai Ter or Longtharai Festival takes place every year. However, they did not receive any help from the authorities.

The priest also mentioned that they are conducting the festival without government support. They have a local festival committee, and everyone contributes to organizing the festival. However, they lack basic facilities such as water, roads, and electricity.
