I have good news and bad news - the answer is both yes & no!
You don't have to depend completely on reels to grow. But you do have to create fitting content that will add value to peoples lives in your sector.
However that being said, Reels are nothing to be scared of. Even though the stereotypical reel may look like you your self need to be in it - there are ways around that.

This is the number one reason all brands need to refresh and review social media strategy on a regular basis.
▶️The number one recommendation I would have would be to look at what you post, are you posting just for the sake of it? Do you feel guilty when you haven't posted in a while and then make a post for the sake of it?
▶️Keep your clients in mind the next time your making a post and ask yourself these important questions. If a potential customer visits your social media will that post add value for them? Will it encourage them to visit or make a purchase?

Before and After Videos - ideal for hairdressers, beauty salons, fashion stylists
Storytime - sit down and plan a chat for 15-30 second on a pain point that will connect you with your audience.
