The School Newsroom

The School Newsroom News meets Video Production as 11 and 12 year old students produce real news updates for their community and publish it on social media.

News meets Video Production for young students at The School Newsroom Project. This project was founded by Alan Brereton. It is in pilot stage at Timahoe National School (Scoil Cianóg Naofa) during the 2016/2017 academic year. After that, it is hoped that a blueprint will be available to schools all over the world! There are some really important principles behind it
- ALL students have a place in

the newsroom (research, hair, makeup, newsreading, marketing, camera, sound, wardrobe, cartoonist)
- It's real news for a real community

By embracing the technology the students use every day (smartphones and tablets), they can learn about real world and community events and also learn how to report them to their audience. This is about as real as a newsroom gets! And these students are only 12 years old. If you would like more information, contact [email protected]
