What an amazing few days of playing music.. from a sold out show (where myself and dunc were joined by one of my all time heroes), to the Annesley house (where after our gig I was evicerated by and put happily back together by ) to where we rocked a few hours of old-time music… capped by sending out cd orders to far and wide…Thankyou to my musical brother Duncan Maitland for putting so much work in and making me sound better than I am, and to all of you for making an old man very happy.. 😊😊😊

And just like that It’s February!! What a week it’s been… humbled beyond belief by all radio plays, & in particular for the deep dive taken by Bernard Clarke on RTÉ lyric fm who has provided an excellent analysis of the record and played multiple tracks from 20 Greenlea Road every night this week!
The photo accompanying this post is my hand… As you can see we’ve been working hard getting ready for tonight’s show in Little Whelan's.
Duncan and myself are so looking forward to presenting this record to you live- for the very first time. So grateful to everyone who bought tickets. You make an old man very happy. I promise to do my best not to let any of you down!

Howayiz… now you know I’m not one to keep reminding yiz about this gig I’m excited to be doing in less than 2 weeks time in little Whelan's on Feb 1st, 😊, but I needed to alert you to the support act for the night.
We are so spoiled that the utterly mesmerising Nessa McHugh will open proceedings for us, and I guarantee you- she is destined for greatness, and not to be missed!! Also, for anyone sitting on the fence about tickets- apparently they have been selling fast…which I'm just overawed by…

I lived downstairs from him in a cool flat in leeson st, & we both worked for the same employer- him in the Ormonde, & me in Duplication… he was our sound man for a while, before he got demoted (!) to electric guitar duties for a while..we played a few duets together in Dun Laoghaire in the early 90’s, & he enjoined the Wilde Oscars when we got to travel to London to play the James Whale show…
More recently we wrote 20 Greenlea Road together, over 10 wonderfully creative days in February 2020- both of us working in 2 different studios, in 2 different countries… basically the process went like this… I would scribble some random letters on a page and send them on, & later that day they would rematerialise as songs… I am continually envious of his talent, his musicality and his ears.. who am I talking about? Someone I feel privileged to call my friend… Joe Chester Joseph Chester
