Back in late-February 1969, a small number of volunteers made up of students from University College Dublin and Trinity College Dublin, packed up their flasks of soup and sandwiches and set out on the streets of Dublin to provide food and support to people experiencing homelessness. This activity would go on to become Dublin Simon Community's first ever service. Back then, they estimated that there were around 100 people on the streets. 55 years later the organisation has greatly expanded its service provision, helping thousands of individuals in their journey to transition out of homelessness.
