📢 Today, we continue exploring the Echobus Records back catalogue, shining the spotlight on the inspired tunes of Cheeko Nolan, a true icon on the Irish music scene. 🎶✨

Cheeko, former frontman of the legendary Kingsativa, left an indelible mark on the reggae landscape and inspired many, including myself, to play and produce reggae.

Cheeko Nolan is not only an exceptional songwriter but also a powerful vocalist and an all-round gent. In 2017, we collaborated on an EP, and a standout track from that project was "The Way." The song carries a central prophetic message that is both thoughtful and uplifting.

"The Way" was recorded in the living room of an old Victorian flat in Dun Laoghaire with the fire lighting. I dusted down my Spanish guitar, and the uber-talented Donagh Molloy graced the tune with an enigmatic trumpet solo, accompanied by McMillen from The Bionic Rats on stabs.

"Misrecognised and overstood..." These poignant lyrics invite the listener to reflect on profound truths while immersed in captivating melodies.

Fun fact: I was a lucky enough to be a stand in guitar player in Kingsativa back in the day. From unforgettable gigs in Mountjoy Prison to Midnight at the Olympia, I had the privilege of being part of the musical journey, even if just for a fleeting moment.

📢 Attention dub lovers! As we count down to the re-launch of Echobus Records, we take a trip down memory lane and revisit some tracks from our back catalogue. 🎶✨

Today, we kick off with a gem: "Blessing" by Irish reggae legend Lariman Ojelade. 🌟 As a stalwart of the Irish music scene, Lariman needs no introduction. He is not only a gifted singer but original "partner in dub" in former outfits, Dub Investigation and Taliwah. Together, we've created a huge archive of music over the years, and when it came to launching the label back in 2014, the first artist had to be the one and only Lariman!

Complete with vocal and Dub "Blessing" has a spiritual vibe and showcases Lariman's versatility and musical energy. This track combines the power of steppers with conscious lyrics that will get you moving. 🎧💃 Thanks to all who have rinsed this track over the years including Artikal VIBES radio and many others.

Larry has had an illustrious career in music working with many talented artists, labels and bands over the years: Calibe, Analog Mindfield, Heavy Flow to name just a few. We have been "blessed" to work with Larry at Echobus Records and look forward to bringing you something fresh from him in the near future.

Fun fact! Blessing was originally a Taliwah song. You can see us performing it live in link below at Life Festival launch in the Button Factory way back in 2007 before it became a digi-dub anthem.
