And if something is extended in a general and obligatory way, then it will be quantitative rather than qualitative. If we imagine all of this in a school system that is universally compulsory for everyone, then according to today’s well-known hierarchization of knowledge, only knowledge that can be (easily) validated in the so-called ‘labour market’ will be truly appreciated. The uptick in the number of refugees from Ukraine to Hungary is hardly surprising given the cold winter and the damage to the Ukrainian infrastructure and housing.

‘There are some member states that have their own historical sensitivities, and they don’t want European legislation on minority rights because that would mean that they must put their own house in order. 50 million Europeans who belong to a national minority are not protected by anti-discrimination legislation.’

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán noted that while US prices for oil, natural gas, and electricity are a fraction of those in Europe, countries in Europe are currently paying a sanctions surcharge on these commodities.

The government decided to extend price caps to shield people from the negative impact of the war in Ukraine and of the sanctions imposed on Russia.
