It’s early in the morning. Today I am going on a tour to the famous Angkor Wat, and I am honored to have a special guest, Princess Jenna of Cambodian Royal Family, to appreciate the beauty of Angkor Wat together.
[Princess] I am so sorry that we had to wake up very early today, but trust me, it is very worth it to see. Now we are at the center of Angkor Wat temple, and it is 5.30 now, I believe. We will be seeing one of the most beautiful sunrises in the world. So get ready for that.
The sunrise in Angkor Wat is indeed one of the best. The 5 towers stand with the sun like they were made from the beginning of time. It really makes you wonder what is in there to make it so calm and peaceful.
[Princess] So we are now currently at the chamber of beating hearts, where you can make a wish by pounding your chest. [Journalist] It’s really echoing in here.
In any random place in Angkor Wat, history unfolds itself catching you off guard. Every corner of the temples has its own life and story, like a travel through time.
[Journalist] So you know this carving here in Bayon temple actually represents the ancient Chinese and ancient Cambodians fighting together. I think that would be depicting the earliest scenario where Cambodian people and Chinese people cooperate together.
[Princess narration] In the past 30 years, a Chinese relic repair team has been dedicated to the protection of Angkor Wat. They spent 20 years and millions of dollars to repair Chau Say Tavoda and Ta Keo temples, and a new repair project is about to start again in 2024. Thanks to their effort, our relics in Angkor Wat are seeing new hopes.
[Princess] This temple is called the elephant temple, which is where ceremonies are done. In ancient times, the royal family would receive Chinese delegations as well to join the ceremonies. [Journalist] So I would say our friendship goes so long that it travels through space and time.
It is really surprising that China and Cambodia have such a long history, a

Austrian Chamber Chairman Affirms Hong Kong's Business Resilience and Future Prospects Amid Global Challenges
In the interview with CGTN reporter, Wilhelm Brauner, the Chairman of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong and Macao), shared his extensive experience and insights on conducting business in Hong Kong. He, who arrived in Hong Kong in 1996, reminisced about his journey starting as a trade commissioner assistant and later moving into the private sector. He emphasized his belief in Hong Kong as an ideal business hub, citing its simplicity and efficiency in setting up businesses and adherence to the rule of law.
The chairman highlighted Hong Kong's simple tax system and the low bureaucratic burden for entrepreneurs, contrasting it favorably with European systems. He also praised the city's customer-oriented official services.
He also pointed out that perceptions of Hong Kong in Europe are often shaped by media portrayals, which do not always match the reality on the ground. According to his experience, some visitors to Hong Kong post-pandemic have found this city unchanged and countered their negative expectations.
Reflecting on security, he considers Hong Kong to be one of the safest cities globally, with a strong legal framework backed by the Basic Law. He noted that, despite past unrest, the city has returned to its customary law and order.
For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which form the backbone of both the Hong Kong and Austrian economies, he stressed the importance of safety and predictability for conducting business.
Looking ahead, he acknowledged the global economic challenges post-COVID-19 but expressed confidence in Hong Kong's resilience and potential, especially with the Greater Bay Area's development plans, positioning Hong Kong for a strong future.
German Culture and Business Thrive in Hong Kong: Insights from a Long-term Resident and Business Leader
In the interview with CGTN reporter, Johannes Hack, the president of the German Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong, talks about the main areas of German business development in Hong Kong, including sourcing from mainland China and other parts of Asia, logistics, and to a lesser extent, finance and services. These sectors are described as the backbone of German business in the city, capitalizing on Hong Kong's status as a trading hub.
Discussing the business environment, the interviewee values Hong Kong's unique position as a Special Administrative Region with 'one country, two systems,' which provides benefits for German companies, especially in logistics, sourcing, and service industries. The clear legal system, English proficiency, and favorable taxation in Hong Kong are also highlighted as advantages for doing business.
Mr. Hack also notes a focus on diversifying and strengthening supply chains with an emphasis on sustainability and compliance with European and German standards. He also mentions cooperation with Hong Kong universities and the Science Park in research and advanced manufacturing.
When speaking about Hong Kong's future, he acknowledges current economic challenges but expressing optimism for recovery. He encourages a clearer focus for the city beyond finance and commends the government's efforts to identify new areas of growth. He also sees potential in the city's conference and arts scene, suggesting that German expertise in sustainability could contribute to making these events more eco-friendly.
Having lived in Hong Kong for six years, he expresses a deep fondness for the city, praising its vibrancy, ease of living, and the friendliness of its people. He mentions the excellent food, outdoor activities like hiking and mountain biking, efficient public transport, and a rich cultural scene.
