Gambians are outraged by the country's Truth Reconciliation and Reparations Commission's (TRRC) decision to grant amnesty to Sanna Sabally. He was the commanding officer during a military junta's ex*****on of troops in 1994. Sabally told the truth tribunal that he was involved in the killing of 11 soldiers in an alleged counter-coup after President Dawda Jawara’s government was overthrown. The victims' families have rejected the TRRC's proposal to offer amnesty to Sanna Sabally and have urged the government to reconsider.

A Ugandan man with 176 children is requesting government assistance to help take care of his huge family. According to the state-owned newspaper New Vision, 65-year-old businessman Mustafa Magambo Mutone says he's finding it increasingly difficult to support his family. "I have tried to feed my 13 wives and over 170 children, and it is not easy," he said. "I request the government to at least sponsor 30 of my children in secondary schools and tertiary institutions." However, Mutone says he is still strong enough to marry more wives and bear more children. His firstborn child is 49 years old, while the youngest are four-year-old twins.
