Yikpabongo CHPS zone is transforming community healthcare, setting an amazing example in improving the health and well-being of its people. The USAID/ASBC Activity has whipped up the enthusiasm of the health staff and the community, to take charge of their health.
Last week, health staff at the CHPS compound organised a school health service at the Mugu DA Primary to offer vitamin A supplements to children between 12 months to 5 years. Each child also received a comprehensive physical examination from head to toe, to identify any health concerns.
Children with wounds had them treated and dressed. The staff also provided counselling and support beyond their physical health.
Recognising the role of the healthcare professionals, the CHMC is leading the community to renovate a 3-room structure within the community to house a midwife and other CHPS staff as part of efforts in providing comfortable and convenient living spaces for the health staff. This will ensure that they are available to offer timely and emergency services to the community members.
These initiatives were carried out as part of the implementation of the Community Health Action Plan under the ASBC Activity that is assisting communities in adopting and prioritising healthy behaviours to achieve better health outcomes. Savana Signatures
