Ghana vs South Korea: A chance for a redemption for the Black Stars?

Ghana recently started their world cup campaign with a painful 3:2 loss to Fernando Santos' well drilled Portuguese side. Despite the loss, a cross section of Ghanaians, and in general, Africans have praised the performance of the national team.

Ghana currently occupies the 4th position in Group H with a test against South Korea up next. What does the future holds for the Black Stars? Is it a redemption to make up for the loss? Or a time to show to the world the rich culture of football the country is noted for?

Whatever be the case, the football world is in for a solid battle on Monday at the Education City Stadium at 13:00 GMT. The match promises to be a cagey encounter of a quick and well disciplined South Korea side led by Son and a young and hungry Ghana side led by Dede Ayew.

With the caliber of players available to Coach Otto Addo, majority of Ghanaians expect an attack minded formation to compliment to abled creative mind of Mohamed Kudus who has so far been Ghana's stand out player.

This is the first time the two sides will be meeting in a competitive encounter with two friendly matches played (1 win for Ghana, 1 win for South Korea).

South Korea is on a relatively good run coming into the World Cup with three loses recorded in their last 10 matches. Ghana, on the other hand, has recorded two loses in their last 10 matches before the World Cup.

Key Players to Watch
The obvious name for the South Korean side is Heung-min Son who plays for English side Tottenham Hotspurs. He has been in fine form for both club and Country and will be expecting to get the ball rolling against Ghana. Another player to watch is Napoli's defender Min-jae Kim who was very impressive against Uruguay.

For the Black Stars, Mohamed Kudus after his remarkable outing against Portugal is the one to watch. Football fans didn't see much of Inaki Williams who missed a crucial chance for Ghana to share the spoils against Portugal and Thomas Partey who has been criticised supposedly for his lack for outstanding performances in a Ghana shirt as compared to his club side form for Arsenal.

A win for Ghana?
It will surely be a tough match but per the quality and how the stakes are very high, a win for the Black Stars is a must. A lose for the team will mean Ghana cannot make it to the next round irrespective of the result in their final game group. A draw in any case only offers the team a slimmer margin of qualification.

Ghana is blessed with huge talents in the team and a win should not be beyond them. Coach Otto Addo and his technical team together with the players know that they have to win and they understand fully well that this is a redemption match.
