Walter Mendanha's Mercury Comet

We pride ourselves on bringing you the unusual in Retro Ford, and we think we can consider this, ‘job done’ with this car!

Mercury being a division of Ford - they used Ford platforms, with different badging and in some cases slightly different bodywork to be sold in other markets. Think Mercury Merkur Sierra for example!

The Interesting story about this car is that not many came to Europe, but in South America it is considered the 69 Charger ‘Muscle car’ of the country!

It certainly is a testament to what Walter and his team can achieve and it’s certainly a very rare car this side of the water!

At Hednesford, the Bill Morris Trophy is always held alongside the English Open Championship. As many participants have proven throughout the years, it is a double worth competing for. Given that, Spedeweekend was also right around the corner, a respectable car count made for entertaining racing. Catch up on all events in Retro Ford's December issue.
