5 national trust places you have to visit this Autumn.
1) Stourhead, Wiltshire. Explore the 1,072 hectares of the Stourhead estate, where the ancient woods are beaming with Autumn colours reflecting off the lake. We recommend taking the Alfred’s Tower walk, a 5.5-mile circular exploring secluded woodlands that leads to the 160-ft tower which commemorates King Alfred.
2) Sheffield Park and Garden, Sussex. This Grade 1 listed garden is a horticultural work of art. Four lakes form the heart of the garden, with paths winding through ancient trees wearing their best autumn coats. Try the Estate walk, which is a 3-mile walk taking you through the historic parklands and alongside the riverside flood meadow.
3) Scotney Castle, Kent. This moated castle has a picturesque garden and estate that is perfect for a weekend walk. It consists of 780 acres, winding through ancient woodlands that now more than ever look like a fairytale. Take the Scotney Parkland trail, a 2-mile walk exploring the key features of the estate and passing through the history of the ancient woodlands.
4) Belton House, Lincolnshire. Explore 1,300 acres of parkland surrounding the Grade 1 listed estate consisting of an ancient deer park, an Italian inspired garden and much more. Give the Belton Park walk a go. It's a 3.2 mile walk exploring historic structures and the site of a deserted medieval village.
5) Lyme Park, Cheshire. Nestled on the edge of the Peak District, Lyme Park is a 1,400-acre estate with a medieval red deer herd and stunning walking routes. We recommend taking the Paddock cottage walk, which is a 1.25 mile walk from where you can enjoy impressive views of Cheshire and Greater Manchester.
3 differences between expensive and affordable 3-season sleeping bags
1) Pack size: The more expensive options tend to pack down smaller. They often come with a good stuff sack with straps, which allows you to pack it down as small as possible - which is handy for backpack camping.
2) Weight: The more affordable options tend to be a bit heavier, which isn’t great if you’re backpacking for an extended time.
3) Price: The more expensive options tend to range from 200 - 300 pounds, which is quite a lot of money, especially if you’re only camping semi-frequently. In this case, the more affordable options on the market will definitely suffice.
We are currently using the brilliant Therm-A-Rest Questar -6C, but we'd love to hear what sleeping bag you’re currently using in the comments below.
The Seychelles is more than just an island.
The sun shines down on its 115 islands all-year-round, with temperatures ranging from 26-32°C and balmy weather from January through to December. With the Indian Ocean lapping at its shores, the islands are overflowing with soft, white beaches, luscious jungles, tall peaks, and rocky coasts.
Though it’s best known as a relaxing and luxurious vacation destination, its natural assets help make it an adventure travel destination like no other. It’s been said many times and of many places, but only in the Seychelles can you truly adventure in paradise.

Wired for Adventure - Assynt Mountain Rescue Helly Hansen
Earlier this year, we took part in a training day with the Assynt Mountain Rescue Team in the Highlands of Scotland as part of Helly Hansen's Open Mountain Month program, which aims to inspire people to get out and experience the spectacular scenery of the mountains.
As the people who are responsible for saving the lives of people who encounter serious and sometimes life-threatening danger in the hills and mountains throughout the United Kingdom, Mountain Rescue provides an invaluable service to anyone who enjoys exploring these incredible places.
So, with the help of Helly Hansen, which supplies Mountain Rescue with their kit, we travelled up to Rhiconich, in the north west corner of Scotland, to take part in one of their training days and see for myself first-hand what it takes to be part of such a vital service.
