🥂🎉 RTS Technology Centre Awards 2024 - what a brilliant evening celebrating technical innovation in TV with the Royal Television Society. 🥂🎉

Some of the youngest at 80six (average age 26!), including Daniel Hall (Head of ICVFX & Advanced Technologies), Harvey Jones (Account Manager), Aura Popa (Marketing Director) and newcomer Daisy Thomson (Marketing Support), rallied behind our Project Coordinator, Abigail Clarke, a finalist for the Young Person of the Year award.

It was a very special day for Daisy too — not only was it her first day at 80six after completing a work placement with us earlier this year and finishing her Creative Media Production degree, but it was also her first day in her professional career – EVER!..

🌊 On The Waterfront Festival returned for another 4 days of top live entertainment, open-air comedy shows and UEFA EUROS 2024 screenings on the biggest telly in Liverpool! 🌊

For the second year, 80six provided LED solutions for the main stage & IMAGs and a camera package.

Our team worked closely with Sam Newson at to ensure the festival's visual and technical aspects were spot on, creating an exceptional experience for performers and the audience.

The festival was a huge success, attracting thousands of attendees who enjoyed fantastic performances by by comedian Paul Smith, indie rockers Ocean Colour Scene, DJ Ben Hemsley, Cast Band, Embrance and The View Republica.

🎉🥳 Join us in congratulating Warehouse Operative Harris Shaikh for 1 year at 80six! 🎉🥳

A TV production graduate, Harris joined us last year, drawn by his passion for the industries we work in. Since then, he has been crucial in numerous projects, demonstrating steadfast dedication.

"What I enjoy the most is the hands-on aspect of my job, especially when I'm in the studio helping install LED setups for numerous clients like Netflix or artists rehearsing for Glastonbury."

When asked to describe 80six in three words, Harris responded, "nice family environment."

Fumu Banda, Warehouse Manager, shares: "Harris is a very happy guy, always smiling, and is known for his interesting music choices. He is constantly eager to learn new things and has an exceptional talent for analyzing and appreciating others' work, deepening his understanding of video technologies."

Outside of work, he's an avid gig-goer, attending one to two weekly shows at smaller venues in London, with the Windmill in Brixton being his favourite spot.

🎉 We're thrilled that our Projects Coordinator Abigail Clarke has been shortlisted for the Young Person of the Year Award at the RTS Technology Centre Awards 2024 from the Royal Television Society.

Abi receives this nomination for her dedication and critical input in supporting our productions & logistics and for her skill at coordinating studio shoots, ensuring the client, crew and everyone on set are always happy.

This year, she has successfully acted as the lead for our studio projects while our studio manager Natasha 'enjoys' maternity leave, coordinating various studio shoots for HETV with incoming crews of up to 120 people.

Even during our first meeting, we were impressed by Abi's level-headed approach and inner confidence given her age; as co-founder Jack James says, "She carries herself with a level of confidence beyond her years."

Abi is really passionate about film, TV and diversity in the industry. She graduated from Birmingham University in 2020 with a dissertation focused on the power and agency of women in the film industry during the Me-Too movement.

80six supported Keane’s ‘Hopes and Fears’ world tour, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their iconic debut album.

The tour, which included sold-out shows across Europe and Mexico, ended with six emotional performances in the UK, including two final sold-out concerts at London’s .

The show’s design relied on projection mapping covering the stage floor, backdrop, and custom onstage screens and showcased visuals from some of Keane’s beloved album covers.

🥁 🎧 Drumcode - Drumsheds March 2024: Heavyweight Swedish techno label Drumcode held their largest UK event at Drumsheds, attracting 15K ravers. 🎧 🥁

As massive techno fans here, we were excited that our video technology enhanced the performances of legends such as Adam Beyer Stephan Bodzin, Kölsch, and Rebūke.

80six integrated an LED package into the venue's video rig consisting of LED displays – ROE Visual Carbon 5.7 and LED processing via Brompton Technology Tessera SX40.

The entire production — from video and sound to lighting —kept ravers on their feet for hours, making it this year’s standout techno event.

🎶 Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, with special guests, rock band Blossoms, joined the Teenage Cancer Trust for their annual fundraising series of shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London. 🎶

Together, they raised money for world-class care for every young person facing cancer.

After collaborating on the sold-out “High Flying Birds” Europe and UK arena tours in 2023, 80six were invited for this one-off show, to provide LED and video technology solutions, including a large-scale ROE Visual LED screen, image processing hardware and video signal infrastructure: Lightware Visual Engineering, Barco and Blackmagic Design.

Supporting young people is a value dear to our soul, so we donated the equipment and technology to this cause.

We need more training and visibility for women from a much younger age so that they know there are options within technology and production. I have often felt underestimated in the industry due to my gender and age, which has motivated me to go above and beyond and prove people wrong. So please, make sure your voice is heard - don't be afraid to speak up. Be creative.
