Monolithic radio supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and 802.15.4 Believed to be the first secure tri-radio device, NXP has introduced the IW612 at CES 2022, in Las Vegas. It enables simultaneous transmit and supports Matter, the interoperable, secure connectivity standard for smart homes.
It supports the Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and 802.15.4 protocols for seamless, secure connectivity for smart home, automotive and industrial use cases, says the company.
Consumers are therefore not restricted to single protocol ecosystems but can access different ecosystems and wireless network technologies. 10GbE XMC module features dual 10GBASE-KX4 ports A rear I/O version of Acromag’s 10GbE network interface card (NIC) mezzanine module is now available. The XMC633 module offers KX4 backplane connections to Intel’s XL710 Ethernet controller.
The XMC633 offers two independent 10Gbit Ethernet (GbE) interface ports with 10GBASE-KX4 protocol. The XMC mezzanine card mounts on VME, VPX, PCIe and other embedded computing carrier boards. An Intel XL710 Ethernet controller provides network connectivity with off-load and virtualisation capabilities. The rear I/O model XMC633 routes two KX4 interfaces to the P16 connector and is compatible with conduction-cooling frames.

Gowanda Electronics signs global distribution deal with TTI Following a worldwide distribution deal, TTI will sell Gowanda Electronics and its sister brands’ power and RF components.
The agreement includes TTI’s sales operations in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia and covers products manufactured by Gowanda and several sister brands in the iNRCORE family.
Products included in the agreement include RF, microwave and power components manufactured by Gowanda Electronics, DYCO Electronics (and its HiSonic brand), Bicron Electronics and TTE Filters. Components include inductors, magnetics, transformers and filters. The components are designed for military, aerospace, avionics, communication, medical, transportation and industrial industries.

Toshiba increases density of photorelays For space-constrained applications, Toshiba Electronics Europe offers three 4-Form-A voltage driven photorelays. According to the company, they have one of the smallest mounting areas in the industry.
The TLP3407SRA4, TLP3412SRHA4 and TLP3475SRHA4 photorelays are suitable for a range of applications including measuring instruments such as oscilloscopes and data loggers as well as burn-in equipment. They can also be used in semiconductor test equipment (probe cards and test heads for memories, SoC and large scale integration (LSI) to mount multiple relays on circuit boards while meeting space constraints.
The devices are Toshiba’s first four-circuit, 4-Form-A relays. They are housed in a newly developed S-VSON16T package measuring just 2.0 x 6.25 x 1.3mm and require a PCB mounting area of just 12.5mm2. Maplesoft updates MapleSim to increase compatibility with production lines Updates to MapleSim Insight by Maplesoft enable machine designers to improve web handling equipment using digital models to reduce costs. The new MapleSim Web Handling Library is an add-on to the system-level modelling and simulation tool. The library expands the modeling scope of MapleSim by adding rollers, drum brakes and other components that can faithfully simulate a machine’s handling of paper, plastic film, textiles, or foil.

They all conform to the latest HDMI 2.1 standard, adds the company. The RL78/F24 and RL78/F23 have been added to the RL78 family of low power, 16-bit MCUs. 5Mpixel RGB-IR global shutter sensor is a first for in-cabin monitoring For simultaneous driver and occupant monitoring in vehicles, the OX05B1S has been introduced by Omnivision. It is claimed to be the smallest 2.2 micron pixel with the highest near infrared (NIR) sensitivity.
It is also believed to be the industry’s first 5Mpixel RGB-IR BSI global shutter sensor for in-cabin driver monitoring systems (DMS). Despite its pixel size of just 2.2 micron, it offers 940nm NIR sensitivity for performance in extremely low light conditions. Powercast unveils printed medical wearables At CES 2022 in Las Vegas this week, Powercast is highlighting its RF wireless power technology in a 3D - printed monitor which can be used by both out-patients at home and athletes to monitor their biomedical signals. The flexible monitor was developed by researchers at the University of Arizona.
The monitor can be charged 24/7 using Powercast’s wireless power technology. The flexible devices are based on flexible circuits which are lightweight and can be worn anywhere on the body for periods of several months, says the company. In the case of out-patients, they can wear the device of 30 to 60 days and carry out their normal activities while the flexible monitor continuously collects data which can be used for diagnosis.

EPC and Renesas demonstrate efficiency of GaN technology A demonstration board which has a two-phase synchronous GaN boost controller from Renesas and eGaN FETs from Efficient Conversion (EPC) is available from EPC. The EPC9166 is a 500W DC/DC demo board that converts a 12V input to 48V output.
The board uses Renesas’ ISL81807 80V two-phase synchronous boost controller with the EPC2218, the latest generation of eGaN FETs from EPC, to achieve greater than 96.5 per cent efficiency in a 12V input to 48V regulated output conversion with 500kHz switching frequency. The output voltage can be configured to 36, 48 and 60V. The board can deliver 480W power without a heatsink.
Regulated DC/DC boost converters are typically used in data centres, computing, and automotive applications, where they are used to convert a nominal 12V to a 48V distribution bus among other output voltages.

High resolution radar sensor monitors vehicle’s blind spots Using a Doppler division multiple access (DDMA)-based signal processing method, the AWR2944 radar sensor can help makers implement systems that can detect vehicles further away than is possible today. The 77GHz sensor has been announced by Texas Instruments and is supplied in a small form factor which it claims is approximately 30 per cent smaller compared to radar today.
The AWR2944 sensor integrates a fourth transmitter to provide 33 per cent higher resolution than existing radar sensors, enabling vehicles to detect obstacles more clearly and avoid collisions. The DDMA signal processing improves the ability to sense oncoming vehicles at distances up to 40 per cent farther away than is currently possible.

Microduct cable for FFTx and 5G have record-breaking diameters Microduct cables in the Sirocco Extreme range now include Prysmian’s latest 576f cable. The company says that the range includes record diameters and fibre densities for blown microduct cables. They ease the path to FTTx (fibre to the x, for broadband networking) and 5G network deployments with 180 micron fibre cables, says the company.
The new cable boasts 576 fibres in an 8.2mm diameter, providing a fibre density of 10.9 fibres per mm2. It can therefore be installed into a 10mm duct. Sirocco Extreme microduct cables use Prysmian’s BendBrightXS 180 micron single-mode (ITU-T G.657.D, G.657.A2) bend insensitive fibre which is fully compatible for splicing with any standard fibre. Network slicing tests meet power saving protocol for 5G NR Anritsu has collaborated with Qualcomm to deliver what is believed to be the first enhanced network slicing and user equipment (UE) power saving protocol conformance tests for 5G new radio (NR) standalone (SA). The equipment is verified on the 5G NR mobile device test platform ME7834NR powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System, which the company says is the world’s first Release 16 modem-RF system.
Network slicing enables support of specific use cases on a set of network resources dynamically configured for the purpose.
