We have completed the surround mix for the film of https://www.facebook.com/cityofhumanity.org We managed to finish a whole day early and also made stems for the Trailer. On his last day with us we took composer Dr Reuben Pace to Flatford Mill.

We are in day 2 of the 2nd mixing pass of this Opera , some great challenges to create a sound that binds together well, but with 4 days to go it's starting to shape up nicely, renders for cinema and also for Blueray on the last day and then back to the editors for final layback and render out.

Contract signed today for our surround Sound work on the opera City of Humanity, 105 mins in 60 scenes, full orchestra, a band, 2 choirs and principal voices and ambient sound , hard drives are being upgraded to very fast SSD drives by Neo to cope with the track count involved. Can't wait to start work.

Congratulations to Electribe 101 and Billie Ray Martin in particular for entering the official dance charts at number 3 this week.
This album was mastered here at Surround Lounge and is the latest in a working relationship with Billie that goes back to 1996. wherever we went we enjoyed Laughter, tears and a whole lotta Grappa !!

And number 3!!!! Omg!

Then my former sound engineer, Steve Honest, said ‘I’ll just have a go, just do a little test’. He sent the first song back and it sounded absolutely amazing. If you listened with the most expensive headphones in the world you could probably still hear slight fluctuations, but I wouldn’t call them flaws exactly. I wanted to ensure it sounded fresh with the mastering.”

Some very kind words in a Interview from Billie Ray Martin on the mastering we deliverd for the Electribe 101 album

How important was it for you to do a proper job on making it a worthwhile release?
I’m glad it’s been under my control, as it’s been a meticulous process. The audio has had to be restored, which was quite an undertaking, as I was working from a 30-year-old DAT. Then mastering was an issue. I initially had Grammy-winning mastering engineers, but I rejected everything they did: “No, I don’t care. Here’s your money. Next!” The funny thing is, I eventually asked Steve Honest, who I’ve worked with since back in the day. I could have gone to Steve in the first place. He has an ear for only tweaking where it needs it, not to do anything that makes the music sound different than what it already is. Then, Lewis Mulatero – who did the photos on Electribal Memories – sent me his old negatives over from New Zealand.
