North Yorkshire Moors Railway review 🚂
This year NYMR are celebrating their 50th anniversary, and we were lucky enough to be invited along for a trip on one of their steam trains and to take on their challenge!
We had the best day, despite the questionable weather (we are still drying out!) . We set off from Pickering, armed with our big 50 booklets and got straight to work ticking off as many of the challenges as possible!
Our first stop was at Goathland; as a lifelong fan, the village of Goathland is so lovely. But as a family of complete potter heads, there was another very big reason for us to visit; the Goathland station is the home to Hogsmeade station in the first 2 Harry Potter movies, so of course we had to stop here, enjoy a butterbeer and take plenty of photos!
After Goathland, Grosmont is a lovely station to stop at, but a lot of people stay on to go right into Whitby. Fish & Chips, 2p machines and a sandcastle - perfect!
Tickets for the NYMR this year are £45 per adult and children go free. Not only can you hop on and off as often as you like, but this is also an annual pass so you can come back as often as you like 😁🚂🙌
On our return journey we carried on ticking off more of our challenges and ended up with 13, which considering the weather was pretty impressive…
I’m sure if we had chance to come back again, we could tick off all 50 over summer. The boys got to collect a badge for getting over 10 which they were super chuffed with.
