All too soon, last band hit the stage. Great to see South Of Salem bringing a full on, rock and roll show proving that they still make bands the way they used to. Plenty of sas and swagger linked to great songs meant they were an absolutely perfect choic as a headliner at SOS Festival XIV at whittlesattokyo and to bring this year's shenanigans to a climax.
Knackered but happy, that was it for another year but we'll be back for the fifteenth aniiversary in 2024 and so should you ... get your tickets bought now
Three in a row for the kilt wearers - Burns Red were new to us but blimey they were good
Up next at Festival were the rather splendidly heavy . We're not sure if it was prearranged but this saw the first in a row of three bands for whom kilt wearing was definitely a "thing". - I reckon I could be tempted to get one
Loz Campbell 's brand of hard rock power on The Viking Stage at SOS Festival quickly showed the folks at whittlesattokyo (and me) just why so many great things have been said about the band. Great stuff and you need to catch them on a stage near you soon!
Back inside it was great to catch the dark, more grungey, performance from MuddiBrooke - great power and magical songwriting proving that the great reviews are more than justified. Great stuff
Bringing their up to date take on a rather glorious time in rock and metal, it was brilliant to watch the reaction of the crowd when hit The Viking Stage at SOS Festival - we loved them at Dementia Aware Fest Newcastle last year and there was no surprise how well they went down in Oldham

Second band in a row at SOS Festival were Black Lakes who, once again, were another that went down an absolute storm.

After a brief break for a really welcome announcement - SOS Festival will be back at in July 2024 (Get your early bird tickets now folks!) - it was back outside to see a rather splendid set from Thieves Of Liberty who were another new band for us but proof if we needed any of the excellent choices made by the festival organises when booking such a grand range of different bands.
Last day of Festival came round quick, didn't it. All that waiting for a year and BOOM, all over. Well we had at least one full day of exciting stuff to some and what a genius way to start out on The Viking stage. Square Wild have been making plenty of noise and earning some well justified rave reviews - today was no different. Brilliant! Make sure you catch them live soon
For regular visitors to SOS Festival it is great to see bands return and move right up the bill - no exception were the Saturday headliners Ward XVI . Theatrical, slighyly dangerous, bags of fun - it is clear just why they are now headline material bringing their full cast of characters out to "play". Genius stuff and can't wait to hear and see what album number three brings us
It wouldn't be SOS Festival without someone from Absolva putting on a performance. This year it was Appleton and his Power Trio representing the family. Cracking set with power and passion
Whenever we're at SOS Festival it seems unfair to pick bands of the day because generally there will be more than one awesome performance - some expected and others the most glorious of surprises. METAPRISM definitely were the most brilliant of surprises - blending growling vocals with much more melodic singing made for a most fabulous noise and we loved them
A lively and slightly bonkers set from Circus 66 certainly got the SOS Festival crowd going. The end of Day 2 may have been fast approaching but there was no sense of flagging from either the crowd or the bands. Top stuff once again

Back to the UK for a new tour next month, Tragedy: All Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees & Beyond will be decimating FOURTEEN cities with their first trip over here since 2020. In support of their new record, "I am Woman", the very spangly and always gracious @mo.royce.peterson joined us to talk about all things glittery and their current US tour with @Steel Panther and Crobot Many thanks to Palmer Turner Overdrive for co-ordinating the schedules.
