We are finding that children’s books are proving very popular at our little library in the Pocket Park. We plan to make the bottom two shelves dedicated to children’s books but we need some more. If you have any to spare or you’ve borrowed some and don’t need them any more please pop them into our beautiful little library.
PS We will correct the clock asap!

Can you spare a few hours a week, or fortnightly? Or maybe even monthly? To help support homeless and/or vulnerable adults in your community?

Here at Devizes Opendoors we operate 4 sessions a week, at each session our registered guests are offered a hot meal, and can access a host of services including hot showers, clean clothing and toiletries, laundry, food packs, use of our phones and computers and we also provide a postal address. We also have support staff, supported by volunteer “befrienders” who can signpost to specialist services as well as support with form filling or other needs.

Volunteers assist in a range of roles; cooks and kitchen assistants, shift leaders, guest support, tea and coffee table, clothing and toiletries support amongst others. We also have “background” volunteers who assist with collection of supermarket donations and surplus, gardening and maintenance, and admin to name but a few.

If you think you could spare some time please do consider getting in touch. We offer relevant training for the roles as required, including Food Safety Certificates, First Aid, Safeguarding etc. All of our volunteers will require a DBS. Experience isn’t required, all we look for in our volunteers is that they are non-judgemental, empathetic, and that they will commit to our confidentiality agreement - and being able to apply personal boundaries are essential.

You’ll be supported by an Operations Manager, a Guest Support Coordinator, and of course many other volunteers to settle into your chosen roles.

Please email [email protected] if you think this is something you would like to know more about. You’ll be given a form to complete and offered the opportunity to observe a couple of sessions before committing.
