This epic shoot was memorable for many reasons (😬), mainly though because it really started the cogs turning for us thinking about opening a branch in Scotland…. How time flies (as did Mr Styles).

It’s fair to say that working in production service is a little bit different from your average 9 to 5. With our ingenuity often pushed to the max, we thrive on complex challenges, unpicking the logistically impossible and traversing the technically insurmountable - all so we can bring the wildest creative ideas to life.

Whether working with unpredictable animals, pulling off risky stunts, recreating any number of different locations or finding unique solutions under immense pressure, it’s all just part of the day job for LS and our fellow production service peers.

All of which makes for some mind-bogglingly wild stories and why we jumped at the chance to take part in 10 Wildest Shoots feature and to revisit memories of that time we dangled Harry Styles from a helicopter on a wire 1500ft in the air above the Isle of Skye.

We're putting on a social event & equipment showcase with our good friends Sony this Thursday 8th August in the Northern Quarter, Manchester; 6pm until Late.

Alongside our own Technicians & Sony experts you'll be able to meet some of our Hire Desk team and have a play with hashtag , hashtag and the whole FX range. We'll also bring along some of the latest tech from DJI and a bunch of E mount glass from Sony showing off the perfect integration between DJI's next gen stabilisation tech and Sony's current Camera & Lens line up...

Mostly though, it's an opportunity for us to meet you lovely people face to face so please feel free to come along (rumour has it there's a free bar too, at least for a bit).

💥New kit alert…!!💥 Our rehoused Kinoptik Tegea 9.8mm Ultra Wide lens has arrived. Super wide and fast (T2.3), this vintage lens originally released in 1959 will pair well with any of our vintage primes and zoom lenses from the 50s, 60s and 70s. S35 sensor coverage makes it perfect for use with the Alexa 35, the rehousing has enhanced many original features and vastly improved usability with close focus of less than 1/2” from the front element and a new modern iris of circular design. Focus and iris rings are now accessible, reliable and super smooth.

This lens was revolutionary in its time, a favourite of Stanley Kubrick and used for the famous Steadicam chase through the snow covered hedge maze at the end of The Shining.

So proud to have had GIRL screen on the opening night of LFF last night! I started my career at the BFI selecting film stills for the programme. I left to join the camera department because I wanted to create those images myself. So I’m over the moon to have shot two feature films screening at the festival this year. - ’s GIRL and ’s IN CAMERA 🎥🌟♥️ And how beautiful is this poster?? Love it!! Super proud of this film and all the hard work everyone put into it.

You may not know this yet (because we’re terrible at marketing..) but we have expanded our traditional offering of equipment allowing us to supply factual, non-scripted, sports and other projects.

Nicknamed ND Flex, this side of No Drama will cater for a part of the industry requiring flexibility not just in the type of kit we can supply but in the demands on the crew and how they will shoot. Our camera packages are designed to allow the user to work in an agile way, accessorised for all eventualities.

FX3, FX6 and FX9s are complimented by lighter weight & tripods . We’ve also added to our existing range of vintage, modern, spherical and anamorphic glass with Sony & Fuji E mount zooms, Canon’s CN lens range and more affordable sets of PL mount full frame covering prime lenses.

Our aim being to provide this part of industry with the same level of service and support we have always given the north’s drama and commercial productions.

Some new arrivals to the rental shelves this week. First up - Voigtländer Zoomar 36-82mm beautifully rehoused by GL Optics. Originally designed by Dr. Frank G Back of Zoomar in Long Island New York and produced by Voigtländer of Germany in 1959, it was the world’s first production zoom for 35mm still cameras. The lens is T3.1 with close focus of 3’ and full frame coverage, stunning golden flares and suprisingly sharp & contrasty for a lens this age. It is the perfect accompaniment to any of our vintage prime lens sets.

Next up… it took a while as manufacturing ramped up but we have just have taken delivery of some more cameras.
