It's not a great start of June for lovers of roots reggae... after Delroy Williams and Clive Hylton (aka Colour Red) now also Errol 'Don' Mais has flown to Zion.

He's one of the producers that shaped early dancehall but he's also the one who discovered a young Hopeton Brown (Scientist) at King Tubby's.

While doing my spring cleaning I found back the book "The Encyclopedia of REGGAE" (2012) by Mike Alleyne; a must read!
It features a foreword by Sly Dunbar (happy birthday big man) and 500 pictures, of people, album covers....
It focuses on the golden age of roots reggae.... my selection will have people covered in this book.

This Saturday I start of my "Recycle Series".
Jamaicans are the kings and queens of recycling... maybe not yet as much with household waste etc... but in riddims yes.
And this sounds boring.... but it's actually a sign of creativity to bring your own take on a famous riddim.

The 2 riddims in this first recycle series are "Take Five Riddim" (no suprise there) and the "Ali Baba Riddim".

Curious to hear which artists are chanting on these riddims...... tune in!

Tonight on the Roots And Culture Show I'm bringing in a Trojan Horse; but don't worry... it's only filled music.

I know that DJs that use the Trojan Box Sets are considered 'lazy' but with 70 box set, which each 50 songs there is a LOT to choose from.... and I won't be selecting the obvious choices but make it a bit more interesting...

In the future I will probably do another show with music released on Trojan Records (but not from the box sets)
