It may seem that Fashion has become more diverse over the years, but it is far from being inclusive.

As part of our Diversity & Inclusivity campaign of using the Hashtags , we thought of sharing an insight in the Fashion business. How the industry is dealing with diversity, what is being done and what can still be done. The lack of Diversity and Inclusivity is undoubtedly one of the biggest problems in fashion. http://bit.ly/JonathPortfolio tried to rebump this out and express his appreciation on individuality! Remembering the statement of Fashion Designer , “Fashion Is For Everyone.”

In order to really dissect this topic, it’s important to understand the difference between the two terms: inclusivity and diversity. Diversity means ‘the mix’ of something; it is the difference within a group of people. That difference can be gender, sexuality, disability, body image, skin, etc. Inclusion is about different identities feeling and/or being valued, leveraged, and welcomed within a given setting (e.g., your team, workplace, or industry). Diversity is about the what and Inclusion, on the other hand, is about the how.

But how can you measure diversity & inclusivity? Change should be within the company and not only externally. Advertisement, for example, is extremely important. More often than not, Ads, the choice of models for a runway, the choice of brand ambassadors, influencers have become a representation of what is beautiful, ‘cool’ and what should be celebrated. But is that enough? On the F/W 2018 Prada runway, Anok Yai made history as the first black model in 20 years to open a Prada show. Should Prada really be praised for this? Does this really show progress?

So what can brands really do to create change? Unfortunately/fortunately diversity has become somewhat trendy and a lot of brands use this to their advantage. But as stated before, real change starts from within, a complete infrastructural make over. But change will not only come from brands. We as consumers, hold a lot of power. We need to also understand who and what we support, not just looking at the surface level like ‘Is this Ad campaign diverse enough?’ but rather ‘Is this brand advocating for, standing for change, internally re-evaluating themselves?’. It’s important to also support the minority. For example, shop smaller black owned businesses and black designers.

GERMANY - Anna-Katharina Alt born in beautiful Thuringia (Germany) 32 years ago. She is type of person who looks very crazy at first. This is also true, but behind this colorful façade, there is still a little girl hiding, which is still excited when it sees the sunset. She loved the little things of everyday life and appreciate them a lot, which is why she usually enjoy nature with her best friend Jacky. They loves the forest and explore everything. It strengthens her life and probably she will also immortalize it under her skin. OtherwiseShe is a nurturing nurse and also have an apprenticeship as a professional in the hospitality industry as well as a hospice attendant. 3 times a year she pierce to specials with her husband in the tattoo studio and she create the care instructions / contracts and much more. Some of her tattoos are remarkably small, and she’s been wearing a side cut for over 7 years, which has become a small hallmark of Anna. The biggest trademark, however, are her tattoos. Those hallmark were bitten by her husband (Tattoobobby / Höchstadt an der Aisch / Germany), yeah that’s really freakin’ cool and sweet. They first recognized with the left arm and tattooed great Chinese motifs, with deep background. Later the right arm, then the hip, the stomach, the back and the thighs and calf. Meet The Models Culture’s Founder

My passion is on fashion, I loved being groomed and dressed up by the most fashion designer. So at the age of 17, I became a fashion model up to date. I love traveling and explore places. In my journey, I met a lot of artists, talents, and experts whom I work with, sometimes for a fashion shoot. Along my way, I discovered how fashion industries less diverse to most artists and talents around the world. While I am engaged in a fashion group, and some event so I have seen the difficulties of young artists who struggle for their dream and career.

What I observed was the less diversified characteristic of the fashion industries. I launched Models Culture way back in 2018 with “nothing but a laptop and a piece of dollars.” with the guidance of co-founder E. Chambon - Paris and Alan Stewart - UK who Structured MC. On a mission to crack a career growth strategy for me as a Model. I was frustrated by the lack of recognition and consideration for novice and early stage talents online.

I am interested in listening to the most story of a young artist on their journey with their passions and dreams. Listen to the most inspiring well-rounded fashion entity that helps young talents of today to reach their goal and dream in fashion industries. “If a piece of art is never seen, it never exists. Isn’t it? It was the wisdom or philosophy of the fashion world since its birth. It is the point of discovery that makes or breaks an artist’s career, and it is heartbreaking when talent not discovered, and an artist loses hopes. We have seen this repeatedly, and it bangs the brutality of the fashion world. When a model or an artist puts themselves out there, it is about believing they are on the edge of something successful and beautiful. Moreover, we stand by you in this belief. You are a unique individual offering unique creativity that someone, somewhere is required to complete something fabulous work. This is why Models Culture exists and this is what we all about.”
