PLEASE NOTE - REVISED CLOSING DATE FOR THE STUDIO

Following on from our Facebook post of 23 March, we can advise customers that Oxleas Trust have given us a little bit more time to vacate the studio. Our last day/night of business will now be THURSDAY 1st JUNE. All usual bookings are welcome in the last couple of weeks leading up to that.

We are obviously still trying to do all we can to save the studio from closure, but there's been no movement from the Trust on that unfortunately. However, we are very grateful for the enormous amount of support we've received from customers and friends of the studio, and local journalists. Save Abbey Music Studios from closure by NHS Oxleas Trust

It is with a lot of sadness we have to announce that Abbey Music Studios is to close.

We have been asked to vacate our building on the Goldie Leigh Hospital site by the 9th of May 2023. The NHS Trust has other plans for our building, despite there being numerous other buildings on the site that have been empty for over 30 years. We restored our building from a derelict shell, without any financial assistance from the Trust and now they want to take it back in its current condition with no offers of compensation or alternative accommodation.

For over 30 years the Studio has provided a hub for local artists, bands, DJs and producers, and has provided free music therapy sessions for mental health patients and those with learning disabilities. It is a sad loss to the local care of those groups now they will no longer benefit from the therapeutic rewards those sessions bring.

We would like to thank everyone that has used the Studio over the years and all those who were involved in those music therapy sessions. So many kind people. Your help was much appreciated.
