MOOF Magazine are honoured to be collaborating with the beating heart of London’s contemporary folk scene, , on “Miscellany & Invocation...” An exhibition of archival objects, photography and artwork celebrating the legacy of the legendary Soho Club, Les Cousins.
Prominent in the British folk music revival of the mid-1960s, Les Cousins was a breeding ground for like minded musicians of the time and influential in the careers of Jackson C. Frank, Al Stewart, Davey Graham, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Sandy Denny, John Martyn, Alexis Korner, The Strawbs, The Young Tradition and Paul Simon (other notable alumni include Cat Stevens, Nick Drake, The Watersons, The Incredible String Band, Anne Briggs and Bob Dylan).
The week-long exhibition at the Flitcroft Street Gallery (23rd August - 1st September), will feature archival objects, photographs and Les Cousins memorabilia - including photography from Brian Shuel and Ray Stevenson, prints by Marijke Koger (The Fool), and archival objects from The Incredible String Band, amongst others. MOOF Magazine will be displaying a selection of cover artwork and design prints as part of the exhibition, copies of the magazine will also be on sale.
And don’t miss the very special performances this Bank Holiday weekend 24th-26th August at St. Giles in the Field featuring Bridget St. John and Rose Simpson (of The Incredible String Band) - as well as frontrunners of the latest wave of British folk - , .band and (plus a special) appearance from Diana Matheou, whose husband Andy founded the venue .
