Calling all of those obsessed with the Second World War and military hardware! WE HAVE WAYS FEST IS BACK! This is the festival for anyone that loves learning about the Second World War, and a place to make new friends and chat about the most interesting period in human history. All taking place in the beautiful english countryside near Silverstone race track. Delicious food and drink stalls, live music and an enormous book store. Free tickets for U16s!

A Picture Paints A Thousand Words - Ep 32. Nikolai Pankov

Here's the latest video in our short series, A Picture Paints A Thousand Words, and it's James Holland choosing one of his favourite Second World War photographs. Today, James has got us looking at this image of a 10-year-old Russian boy called Nikolai Pankov, whose story is quite extraordinary. James explains how his parents were killed and he was subsequently adopted by another Russian who was captured and then fought for the Germans, taking Nikolai with him to the front line. This photograph was taken in Normandy on 17th August 1944. #WeHaveWays #SecondWorldWar

Today we've got an image of a StuG III in a huge field of wheat that was taken during Operation Barbarossa. This photograph leads the lads to discuss how we were already seeing the Germans having to cut corners with their kit. Today we're looking at a particularly special image for James, as it's what he used on the cover of Normandy '44. It features two soldiers from the Royal Scots Fusiliers in the village of Manvieu.
