OKLAHOMA CITY (Free Press) — The Putnam City Schools (PCS) district Board of Ed voted Friday to take legal action against the Oklahoma State Board of Education (OKBOE) to stop the transfer of millions from public school districts to charter schools across the state. The PCS Board said in their resolution that the action will “result in local sources of revenue, such as ad valorem taxes levied for the benefit of a school district’s general fund and building fund, being provided to charter schools, despite the fact that the Oklahoma Constitution provides that such levies are only for the benefit of ‘school districts’ as opposed to charter schools….”...

A local hospital has agreed to sell more than 2.7 acres of land at a “deeply discounted” price to Middletown as a site for a new fire station. Premier Health/Atrium Medical Center may sell the land for $80,000 an acre, well below market value, City Manager Jim Palenick said at last week’s city council meeting. He said similar land in the area sells for $200,000 an acre....

More than half of the passengers on the Perth-to-Melbourne flight with an infected man have now tested negative to coronavirus. Victoria’s Roads Minister Ben Carroll said on Monday that all 265 passengers and crew on the flight from Perth had been contacted, with 156 passengers and 10 airline crew returning a negative result so far. Amazon has announced its first renewable energy investment in Canada, a solar project in the County of Newell in Alberta. The tech giant says the project will produce enough energy to power more than 18,000 Canadian homes for a year. The 80 MW solar project will produce over 195,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable energy to the grid.
