We’re SO excited to announce our latest publication on our roster: IMPERFECT INDEX: a graphic design reference book.

This one is particularly special, so many wonderful contributors that we have either looked up to when we founded Sold Out Publishing or people we’re very excited to find out about.
and .parke have done a stunning job at bringing it all together.

Imperfect index is a reference document, a non-linear, imperfect guide to a more expansive understanding of graphic design. In this book, we are looking back at the disciplines discriminatory past, and directly at its discriminatory present, it contains a collection of voices, ideas and projects, that look forward to a more diverse and inclusive future. Featuring ( and .books) Kaleena Sales (Extra Bold and Centered) and Alison Place ()

If you’re in Porto come and visit . Whilst we’re here we had a moment to reflect on the fact that part of why we started was because we really looked up to institutions like . Three years later, here we are at Etcetras, which was founded by them. Surrounded by the most amazing brilliant creatives who show nothing but talent, respect, intelligence and kindness every day. It’s inspiring to be around people who have created a real blueprint for more equitable and exciting structures and atmospheres in the graphic design and publishing industry. Feeling grateful today :)

“Beg Borrow Steal” is a publication by that celebrates the deepconnection between South Asian immigrants and their culture in the United Kingdom. Through poignant interviews and heartfelt recipes, it unveils the challenges and triumphs faced by people of colour in a predominantly white society. Each cherished recipe is typeset in the way they learned to cook and is presented alongside their personal stories. The book honours the resilience and perseverance of those who endured centuries of British colonialism. It goes beyond a cookbook, offering a comprehensive directory of South Asian stores and serving as an archive of art and design traditions, showcasing the intricate patterns found on the packaging.

Only 13 days left to buy make this book a reality!

How May I Serve You is project developed by who worked with two call centre/live-chat agents based in Pakistan and working for UK companies.

This whole outsourcing system under the guise of giving opportunities to Pakistan for example is very much derived from old colonial systems. To read more about it go on the pre-order page (link in bio!)

Please please share this to whomever you think might be interested! If we don’t reach a minimum of pre-orders this book will only exist in our dreams.

How May I Serve You, is now open for pre-orders!

How May I Serve You aims to disrupt the corporate customer service system to personify and reveal the experiences of those individuals hidden behind calls and online chats. These hidden workers behind offshore outsourced online customer services still experience negative consequences inherited from colonial systems. The project recreated a live-chat platform as a space to facilitate dialogues about working conditions, automation, online identities, and outsourcing systems with three call centre agents based in Pakistan outsourced by UK companies. The book, How May I Serve You, is a collection of all the research and chats collected during these live-chat performances. The project is researched, developed and led by artist in collaboration with two call centre agents, Malik Ayaz and Saadia Abbasi.

The pre-order will be open until the 30th November and the book will be distributed in February. Get your limited run copy now, numbered and signed by the artist!
