RIP Maggie Smith
It seems our modern-day screen heroes are dropping every other week, and this week is pretty tough. The loss of the super Maggie Smith, a talent whose brilliance has illuminated screens and stages for generations. With her unique blend of wit, grace, and a touch of mischief, she brought to life characters that resonated deeply with audiences worldwide.
From her unforgettable role as Professor McGonagall in the "Harry Potter" series to the sharp-tongued yet tender Violet Crawley in "Downton Abbey," Maggie had an extraordinary ability to blend strength with vulnerability. Her performances were not just acts; they were invitations to explore the complexities of human emotion, leaving us both entertained and enlightened.
Beyond her roles, Maggie Smith was a beacon of resilience. Her journey through the ups and downs of life and career inspired many, proving that true artistry knows no age. Her commitment to her craft and her ability to convey profound truths through her characters remind us of the power of storytelling.
As we reflect on her legacy, let us cherish the laughter, the tears, and the unforgettable moments she gifted us. Rest in Peace, dear Maggie; your light will continue to shine through the stories you left behind.

Opportunity with Firefly Arts and ARC West Lothian
We are thrilled to support one of the event sponsors from the 2024 film festival as they look to fill a very filmmaker role.
Project Brief - Creative Placements: Winter Show Filmmaking
Introduction: For the second year in a row, West Lothian ARC is supporting Firefly Arts in presenting their Winter Show, devised in collaboration with young people throughout West Lothian.
The Winter Show is a time for Firefly to spread festive joy while celebrating young talent and addressing issues close to our hearts. We are committed to delivering high quality arts experiences for children and young people across West Lothian, no matter social, cultural or economic background, and the Winter Show is a perfect example of this in action.
Each year, Firefly Arts works with professional theatre makers, facilitators and designers to create something truly unique, and this year is no different. Without giving too much away, this year’s show is about a young boy who finds himself lost in the snowstorm of advertisements, consumerism and presents while looking for the true meaning of Christmas.
To help us bring our vision to life, we are looking to collaborate with a local filmmaker to create a series of short videos screened throughout the performance and play a vital role in moving the story forward. The filmmaker will work closely with the director, set/costume designer, and the group of young performers to better understand the play's vision and create these videos. The filmmaker needs to be able to work fast and in a timely manner to ensure these videos are filmed and edited within a month and able to be projected onto our custom-made set.
Deliverables - The filmmaker will create a series of 4/5 videos, each of 1-2 minutes duration. The videos should be shot in high definition for optimal visual quality, and the filmmaker should ensure high-quality audio recording for clear and crisp sound. The final videos should be professionally edited to maintain a coherent, engaging st
