Jonathan Cowan - Slater / Sawyer - Selador
Support from Nick Warren, AFFKT, Anthony Pappa, Just Her, Audio Junkies, and of course form Dave Seaman and Steve Parry

Jonathan Cowan is an OG of the scene Stateside, particularly in his native Florida, where he gave a certain Dave Seaman his first US residency back in 1998, and to this day remains a kingpin of that week in March when the dance music cognoscenti descend upon Miami.

With these two transatlantic amigos and like-minded souls having been (ahem) brothers in rhythm for nigh on three decades now, it was only right & proper that some of JC’s studio excursions would find their way to Selador. And so it was. The achingly beautiful ‘Alden’s Groove’ was first, debuting on our Sweet Sixteenth Showcase in 2022, and then followed by ‘Swaddles’ which graced our Seventeenth Instalment in 2023. At the time we described it as “tip top electronic headf**kery”, and some two years on, we ain’t changed our minds.

So naturally we’re pleased as proverbial punch to now unveil a brand-new double-header from JC.

‘Slater’ is first up, as clever as it is insanely catchy. It wears several 90s influences proudly on its sleeve (think ‘French Kiss’ meets Desert’s seminal ‘Moods’ and you’re part way there), while wrapping everything up in a warm 2025 blanket of sound. Listen now, thank us slater ;)

On the flipside, ‘Sawyer’ kicks off with a pure 80s Chicago bassline riding that Windy City wave, before Moroder-esque wonktastic riffage joins the fray and takes hold of the dance floor. So high indeed.

Tried and tested by both Messrs Seaman & Parry, these two meticulously crafted gems have been staples of their sets for the past few months but don’t just take our word for it, judge for yourselves.

Here we go, and it’s a biggie!!  

Next up on Pro B Tech Music, is Ethereal Pulse, The original produced by label boss Brent Lawson and good friend and mentor Paul James Nolan.

  This alone would make this EP special but we then bring in two remixes, both coming from one of our favourite locations in South America, Argentina,  The original starts out with a solid 4/4 kick as the rumbling progressive bassline comes through, as this progresses you start to hear the main synth line coming through, growing as this moves through before being treated to the break, it’s a grower, sure to blow up many a dance floor.

  The first of two needs no introduction, and we are so humbled, excited we landed the agreement, on that we welcome back Hernan Cattaneo, and first time for us Mercurio, What the guys have done here is very special, clever and works outstandingly, they have taken the main synth line of the original and transferred this from the synth into a crisp, clean Piano, It works so well, creating a sound that has hints of “Knights of the Jaguar”, Hernan has already played this live at this years Sunset strip, we love it, and know you will.  

Second up, and another big welcome back and continuing with Argentina we have Martin Gardoqui, Martin does as he always does and delivers at the highest of levels, what he has done here is provided a deeper version that still stays strong to the original, you can hear the main line throughout but as this progresses it has so many more elements which grow, including broken vocal at the break.  This provides real growth through this EP giving you something across all parts of the night.  I/

Harmonik Kontrol - Tazo (Anna Reusch, Nihil Young and Live at Family Piknik Remixes) - Awesome Soundwave

Off the back of their enormous “First Kontrol” album last year on Awesome Soundwave, the Harmonik Kontrol duo return with a remix package of “Tazo”, a single from their 2024 album. This essential segment from the album receives two heavy-hitting remix treatments from Anna Reusch and Nihil Young, with the body of work also including the original and a “Live From Family Piknik” version of the track.
An impressive release that will undoubtedly perk the ears of the tastemaking Awesome Soundwave audience and beyond, right on cue for the summer’s festival season.

The EP launches with the timeless original, intricately evolving as it thunders forward, with the Harmonik Kontrol pair showcasing their live musical chemistry. Next on the agenda is the amazing Anna Reusch with her “Tazo” interpretation. Her gigantic, no-nonsense sound provides a stellar techno trip for trained listeners. A welcome addition to the ASW catalogue. Teasing the next remix is Nihil Young, stripping things back a bit, offering a deeper and more emotive version of the HK single, as opposed to its fast-paced companion that comes before it. The Italian producer’s signature atmospheres are layered throughout this mystical exhibition. Rounding off the release is a live version of the track. Live performance is at the heartbeat of the label, so it makes sense that this raw and ready-to-roll version joins the “Tazo” remix EP, extracted from Harmonik Kontrol’s 2024 performance at Family Piknik.

Awesome Soundwave sets up shop for another exemplary year of innovative live music, in combination with some of the most sought-after artists on the circuit. Several releases from the label co-founders Carl Cox and Christopher Coe are already signed off, with many members of the ASW family also featuring in the pipeline for 2025.

Mia Moretti ft. Vonita White - Best I Can (DJ Sneak 12” Edit) - Spaghetti Moretti

The legendary DJ Sneak edits this absolute diamond of a track ‘Best I Can’ from Mia Moretti, who’s making huge waves Globally with her performances from London to Ibiza, Dubai to NYC and beyond.

The original track landed last year, featuring the huge vocals from Vonita White caused a fuss with DJ support from Felix Da Housecat, A-Trak, Danny Tenaglia, Bushwacka, Horse Meat Disco, Sam Divine Dj Heather, and many more, and now its back with a new lease of life from Chicago legend DJ Sneak.

The original version saw Baltimore-born singer behind the Jasper Street Co. record sampled by Moretti, who later joined the LA-based DJ in the studio 30 years later to record a new vocal for the track, breathing new life into the house classic. ‘Best I Can’ opens with a pulsing bassline fit for the heart of the dancefloor, joined quickly by livewire Latin percussion before Vonita White’s soaring voice cuts through the mix, pushing powerful vocals straight through the club-focused rhythm.

What can we say about DJ Sneak? An Chicago pioneer who found inspiration in underground house music, warehouse parties and “old school” mix tapes from the early pioneers such as Marshall Jefferson and DJ Pierre. Many of those early innovators had left Chicago for the East Coast by the late ‘80s, so in 92 Sneak released on Cajmeres Relief Records, plus releasing on Strictly Rhythm, Henry St., ZYX, 83 West and Feverpitch (many with feature Armand Van Helden. Sneak is a true house music legend in his own right.

His edit is very respectful of the original, while adding that Sneak magic, and making his own, while the essence of the original powers through wonderfully. This edit strips things back, and is all about the groove, the chunky beats are phattened up, and adds a classic jackin vibe, plus a whole lot of drive while using the vocals wonderfully. Peak time house goodness, that sounds as fresh as a daisy, while nodding to classic house vibes.

Buenos Aires provides the next duo to grace Nightcolours. Larrosa, a familiar name with releases on Selador, Balance & Sudbeat, teams up with fellow Argentine produce Nico Sparvieri for the Influences EP.

The title track is a beauty, a tension filled groove-a-thon that really gets in your head. On remix duties is Mike Griego who brings a much darker, heads down workout full of chunky beats and heavy percs.
Levitation is the second original on the EP and again the duo weave a gorgeous groove in amongst beautifully textured soundscapes. On remix is the mighty Lopezhouse who delivers something a bit more peak time and magical.
