🩷💜💙 Happy Bisexual Awareness Week 💙💜🩷 "This is such an important week I feel due to the current levels of Bi erasure and prejudice both outside and within the LGBTQIA+ community itself towards bisexual and pansexual people. It's a sexuality often overlooked and frowned upon purely because of its fluidity and also misunderstanding of the term "Bisexual" itself as overlooking non binary and trans people which it doesn't. It's important to me as an artist to project this problem into my art and film work as a way of bringing love and understanding within our community while adding just a sprinkle of magic along the way ✨" - .x First Take's resident bisexual witch.

Over the past few months we have been working on such an important drama short right at the heart of Liverpool's theatre community; capturing the lives of Graeme (Previous Artistic Director of the Unity) and Peter ( Previous Director of the Rathbone) and their journey to show "Krapps Last Tape" again at the .

Working with now current Artistic Director of the Unity to create beautiful flashback movement pieces showing how the two first met and grew together with playing Graeme and
playing Peter complete with 80s mullet and all ✨

Also massive thank you to Paula Simms for recreating Graeme's flat as a set in First Take , with so many details from the time and a full pallet bed which we will definitely miss having in the office! And yes! We had to tape up the windows outside to make it look like a night time scene which got some hilarious side eyes, but it's all in the name of film!

Yesterday our microshorts crew sat down for their final session of the course 😭 Making these films was a lot of fun and everyone grew as filmmakers. We are so impressed with the quality and variety of films made, jumping from tin foil ships to sock puppets and all in such a tiny length of time ☺️ We are super excited to share them all at some point in the near future 🌈

- A disturbing look at racialised misogyny and it's violent counterpart through a Black female gaze.

🎬PRODUCTION MEETING 24/04/24 - PALACE AT THE END OF THE WORLD , REEL Q***R SHORT🎬

"It's hard to put into words just how brilliant the entire Palace team is. I had been working on this story for about a year; for so long it existed only in my head. That's why it was so important for me to put together a cast and crew who had the same level of passion and excitement to tell this story.

I was riddled with nerves as we assembled everyone together for our cast and crew table read. Yet as each member of the team arrived, those nerves diminished. When everyone was finally sat around the table and started making their introductions, I knew we had something special here. There was a level of joy and excitement that cemented my belief that we were making something truly magical.

As the cast brought these characters to life, the crew brought their own expertise, each department working incredibly hard to tell this story.

As a director, I truly could not have achieved what was achieved without this amazing bunch of people. As with all great projects this has been a team effort...

and what a team it has been!"

Eviction of Body - ( Screening details below ✨)

"A dystopian reimagining of the body's extinction, through the confrontation of intrusive perversions and excavation of the body."

In 2022 we partnered with ***rbodiespoetry to create Q***r inSIGHT, a fusion of spoken word, film, visuals and music to explore the changing landscape of Gender & Sexuality with 10 Q***r artists from around Liverpool.

All our Q***r inSIGHT films will be shown as part of the final event of festival ; Poetry Factory at on Sunday 7th July , 12pm - 6pm. We would love if you could come along and give them all a watch as well as supporting all the other amazing stuff going on that day at the festival.

With our new Art Filmmaking course starting next week, we took the opportunity to watch the screening of "The Thief of Bagdad"(1940) and Q&A after with filmmaker Michelle Williams Gamaker , who has now retold the film on fantasy fashion with her film "Thieves"(2023)

Michelle's current exhibition at The Bluecoat "Our Mountains are Painted on Glass" will be part of our inspiration for the course. We are all very excited to see it and learn from it, and bring other perspectives of filmmaking into our work!
