Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience has enjoyed a super sell-out opening weekend with 9,000 visitors flocking to the new Liverpool waterfront attraction.

The atmospheric multimedia experience – receiving its UK premiere in the city – brings the Dutch master’s works to life in spectacular and colourful style.

It runs at the Exhibition Centre Liverpool until Wednesday 24 July.

Thirty thousand tickets have already been sold for the four-week run, while the Saturday morning yoga sessions – where participants take part while surrounded by Van Gogh’s visionary masterpieces – have proved so popular that extra dates have now been added on Sunday 14 July and Sunday 21 July.

No Play Festival is back and, this time, it’s taking over the city centre! With three stages including the newly reopened Arts Club along with EBGBS and The Jacaranda, No Play promises to once again bring the best alternative artists to Britain’s iconic music city.

After bursting onto the UK festival scene last summer with a lineup that included YONAKA, VUKOVI, Higher Power and Conjurer alongside an incredibly special secret set from local heavyweights LOATHE, it was going to be no small feat for No Play to follow up their debut. Booking your first international headliner is one way to do it! San Diego’s SeeYouSpaceCowboy lead the mainstage billing this year for their first time playing Liverpool. The band released their third album, Coup de Grâce, April 28th and have a busy schedule lined up as they complete a huge US tour this summer.

Forming in 2016, the band’s previous works have combined intensely dark punk and metalcore with writing that reflects frontwoman Connie Sgarbossa’s difficult experience as a trans woman dealing with grief and addiction. Marc Almond New Album News.

The return of the inimitable Marc Almond with news of his upcoming album ‘I’m Not Anyone’ (coming July 12th 2024) inspired a fresh wave of attention for one of the UK’s most singular artists. Greeted by BBC Radio 2 airplay and an interview with Michael Ball as well as coverage from Clash, Hot Press, Retropop, Super Deluxe Edition, xs-Noize and more, Marc also received the honour of praise from Bob Lind, the writer of the album’s first taster track ‘Elusive Butterfly’.

He said, “Thanks for breathing new life into ‘Butterfly’, it’s heartening to know that 58 years down the line, my music is still reaching the hearts of talented artists and their fans.”

A Conversation With Liverpool Playwright
Gerry Linford

Since 2018 Gerry has been the most prolific playwright in Liverpool. The recent Haunted Scouse was his sixth play at Liverpool’s Royal Court, he has put on close to 200 shows and to date, his work has been seen by over 100,000 people.

Highlights include The Miracle of Great Homer Street which starred Les Dennis and Andrew Schofield, Ellen and Rigby with Schofield again, and Lindzi Germain- this play re-opening Liverpool theatres following the pandemic- and the afore-mentioned Haunted Scouse which featured Brookside favourite Mickey Starke (Sinbad) playing alongside his real-life wife, Lyn Francis.

NSG’s Billy Vitch sat down with Gerry for a natter about his life and work and to find out what makes him tick.

Blossoms have just revealed their brand-new single, 'What Can I Say After I’m Sorry?' and its accompanying video, directed by Ewan Ogden and the band’s Tom Ogden.

The video features a cameo appearance from Everton Football Club‘s manager Sean Dyche and sees the band steal ‘Gary the Gorilla‘, an 8-foot fibreglass gorilla taken from a Lancashire garden centre last year, a story that received widespread media attention at the time.Speaking about his involvement,

BBC Radio 1 DJ Annie Nightingale, the station's first female presenter, who went on to become its longest-serving host, has died at the age of 83.

Nightingale joined the station in 1970 and remained the only woman on the line-up for 12 years.

She was known for her passion for a wide range of music, championing everything from prog rock and punk to acid house and grime.

She remained on air until late last year with Annie Nightingale Presents.

An icon of British radio!

Benjamin Zephaniah, the writer and poet known for his work on race and racism has passed away , aged 65 after being diagnosed with a brain tumour eight weeks ago.

A statement posted on his Instagram account confirmed he died in the early hours of Thursday.

The statement said Zephaniah's wife "was with him throughout and was by his side when he passed".

"We shared him with the world and we know many will be shocked and saddened by this news," it added.Zephaniah famously rejected an OBE in 2003 due to the association of such an honour with the British Empire and its history of slavery".

A massive loss to the world and literature.

Denny Laine, Wings and Moody Blues Co-Founder, passes awat at the age of 79.
He sang lead on the breakthrough Moody Blues hit "Go Now" before helping Paul McCartney kickstart Wings, playing on classics like "Band on the Run," "Live and Let Die" and "Mull of Kintyre".

DENNY LAINE, THE original lead singer of the Moody Blues and Paul McCartney’s co-founder/guitarist in Wings, died December 5 after a short battle with Interstitial lung disease. He was 79.

“I was at his bedside holding his hand as I played his favourite Christmas songs for him,” his wife Elizabeth Hines wrote in a statement. “My world will never be the same. Denny was an amazingly wonderful person, so loving and sweet to me. He made my days colourful, fun, and full of life – just like him.”
