We recently enjoyed working with Michael Wilson on the production of his book Shells, Spikes and a Dog Called Drummy. Michael has published his Grandfather’s memories of soldiering and cross-country running in Gallipoli, France and Flanders during the First World War. Plus, the adventures of a dog found in an enemy trench. And all interwoven with excerpts from the War Diaries and Annuals of the Lancashire Fusiliers.

Priced £20. Illustrated throughout in colour, this beautiful hardback book will appeal to anyone interested in maritime history:

Mary Cove’s long family history of seafaring and boatbuilding has been invaluable in creating this epic collection of maritime narrative. From the history of the construction of watercraft in Britain and overseas to a tour around the main ports of the British Isles, these volumes lay down on paper Mary’s instinctive understanding and lifetime knowledge of the way of the water.

We are delighted to announce the publication of Pedic’s Dream, a sublimely elegant collection of poetry from Clive Watkins. It has been a real pleasure to work with Clive and his excellent verse over the last few months. Here’s what he had to say about working with Scotforth Books:
‘I am very grateful to you for making it happen. It was not merely a question of your professional skills, crucial though these were. What struck me throughout was the combination of patience, tact and friendliness that made the whole, slightly daunting experience so much fun, and I thank you most particularly for this. So, thank you once again for your skill and sensitivity in giving Pedic’s Dream such a splendid physical existence.’
Copies of Pedic’s Dream are available from Common End Press in exchange for a donation to one of a number of charities: enquiries to [email protected].
