The borough was the home of the first-ever moving image, created in 1871 by Eadweard Muybridge, and it will now act as a vessel for innovation with the coming of this new creative platform.

Kingston’s only functioning public swimming pool at the Malden Centre reopened on Thursday, having been closed in February for essential repairs.

The news comes ahead of a meeting of the council’s Planning Committee on Wednesday to decide whether or not to approve planning permission for the demolition of the Kingfisher Leisure Centre in Kingston upon Thames, which also had a popular swimming pool.

The Metropolitan Police’s ‘Hate crime or special crime’ dashboard shows that 1,493 crimes were flagged as domestic abuse in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames in 2021.

Peer-led London mental health charity Hearts and Minds has closed down due to financial and staffing problems, but has said that former employees would continue to offer support as a voluntary collective.

The closure of Hearts and Minds which supported young people aged 14-25 experiencing mental health difficulties, was announced on its website on January 19.
