The last episode of 2025 is a festive treat courtesy of the harmonium - admittedly not up there with sleigh bells as symbolic of Christmas but a modest instrument, perhaps taken for granted, that rewards a closer listen. So we do precisely that at St John's Church, Whitfield, at the Allen Valleys Folk Festival Christmas Concert and at St Mark's Church in Ninebanks, where Ros Ronaldson talks about the joys of playing the harmonium. And there's more! The choir and congregation of St Mark's welcomed the podcast to their carol service, accompanied by Ros. Thanks to Ros, Sarah Blackett-Ord, Church Warden at Whitfield, and Marina Wallace and Dorothy Summers, Church Wardens at Ninebanks. Happy Christmas and New Year, one and all!

Stargazing was initially penned by Paul Mason, one half of Landermason, for the duo to
perform. It soon became obvious that a choir would add something extra special, so Fiona Lander (the other half!) set to work on an arrangement for her chamber choir Dark Sky Voices. Over the summer of 2025, they recorded the choir in their studio in Bellingham before adding some final touches using lap steel, bass and electric guitar (all instruments handmade by Paul). It was collectively decided to support a homelessness charity - especially important at this time of
year. To that end, all proceeds/donations from digital sales before March 1st 2026 will
go to SHELTER.

Thank you to the community of St Mark's Church in Ninebanks for the wonderful Christmas service yesterday, especially to Churchwardens Dorothy and Marina, harmonium player Ros and the Reverend Martin Naylor for their warm welcome. The supper was delicious - the ladies of Ninebanks certainly do a good tea! Next Tuesday's seasonal episode features carols from the service with accompaniment by Ros.
