Really cool Tanglewood electro-classical which has just had the works. Quick blast through an amp to test it out as the base of the bridge saddle had previously been sanded a bit wonky.
Disclaimer: I cannot play classical to save my life so I treat them like giant ukuleles :P
An essential part of doing a setup is putting an instrument through its paces. This lovely 80s Japanese Charvel has just been tuned to drop B with a .145 on the lowest string!
Needs a bit more dialing-in but this old thing packs a PUNCH π
Another setup about to head out. A very cool 1970s Japanese Maya P-bass tuned to Drop C with a freshly-fitted Fender Original pickup.
π«ππ <- Riff riddle
Testing the trem on a customer's freshly dialled-in Squier Jaguar.
Fender offsets are quirky instruments but can create some magnifiscent tones when setup correctly. The neck angle plays a crucial role in the performance of the bridge and overall tension of the guitar.
Fortunately this one came from the factory with plenty of angle in the pocket and only required heavier strings, widening the nut slots, touch of Loctite on the grub screws to prevent the action dropping during play, tremolo spring adjusted and then completing the setup as usual (with a liberal application of lubricant on all string contact points).
A splash of spring reverb and it's more than happy to do spaghetti-Westerns and surf rock.
Testing out the first setup to come out of the new workshop.
Work carried out on this customer's bass:
- straightened bowed neck
- cleaned and oiled fingerboard
- high frets corrected
- frets polished
- full 0.5deg neck shim
- nut slots cut deeper
- broken tone pot fixed
- new set of Rotosound strings
- pickups adjusted
- action set and intonated
- final clean and polish

Fender 70s Jazz Bass
This 70s Jazz Bass had a poorly bridge pickup. After taking the pickup out and sending it off for a re-wind, this bass is back in business.
Definitely sounding like a 70s Jazz Bass again now! Slaptastic.
Broken jack socket? Unearthly buzzing and hum? Cracking pots? Fancy a new set of pickups? Give us a call and we'll sort it out :)
