Report from John Greene - Secretary, GFM
Since my last report we have been busy I am pleased to record. Yours truly got first past the post in our Open Competition with A Cotswold Sanctuary. Off to Worcester on March 16th for the Inter Club Competition with Bristol winning The Best Film titled Ziggy. Gloucester came third with The Laxey Wheel, by Chris Byrne.
On to April 8th for our Gloucestershire Memories Vintage Film Show. Ninety minutes of nostalgia created by our Chairman Mike Morris. An excellent evening well attended by the public and a boost to our bank balance.
May 13th, we look forward to Gordon Young from the Bristol club showing us some of his films and discussing the making of them.
A Documentary Competition is planned for June, Wildlife in September and also a Film to music that same evening. Our Video Road Shows are still quiet, but we did one last night for Gloucester Civic Trust and there are 2 booked for later this year.
In closing, to mention again the passing on Boxing Day, of our former Chairman, Clare Robinson. She was a lovely lady and we do miss her. Her involvement with the club began when she was invited to act in one of our dramas. On more than one occasion her home was used as a location for a film and social gatherings. Rest in peace Clare.
