Forth crossing timelapse

The Scottish SPCA is appealing to the public to be aware of wildlife when gardening this spring after two nestling woodpigeons were left homeless when their nest was destroyed.
Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted on Saturday (2 April) when the birds were discovered next to the remains of their nest in Bathgate.
The woodpigeons are the first nestlings of the season being rehabilitated at the charity’s National Wildlife Rescue Centre in Fishcross.
Centre manager Colin Seddon said, “Unfortunately the member of the public had not seen the nest before he began clearing the garden and as there was not another tree nearby to put the nest in their mother would have been unable to find them.
“These youngsters were very lucky to have survived and should eventually be able to be returned to the wild but many more birds may not be as fortunate.
“We are appealing to the public to be aware whilst carrying out garden work that birds are nesting and other wildlife may also be breeding. An untidy wild patch in the garden is often beneficial to local wildlife.”
