My group of friends do meet to discuss a single book that we have all read. The name of the book is sent to the group and everyone reads it and meet on a cool evening to discuss the book. This time we read the novel titled “Lady Tan’s circle of women”, written by LISA SEE, a New York Times best selling author.

It’s quite unfortunate that most people don’t read good novels these days, they are really glued to social media. However, the benefits of reading good books can never be overemphasized as it helps to build your vocabulary, the more you read, the more words you come across and the more they make way into your everyday vocabulary. Reading reduces stress because when you engage yourself in an interesting story, it can transport you to other realms , letting tension go away while you relax. Reading makes you more knowledgeable, when you argue, you argue reasonably because your mind is filled with plenty knowledge.

Reading improves your memory because you tend to remember names and characters of the story you read which enhances your memory. Reading improves your writing skills because you are exposed to well written work. Reading helps in mental stimulation as studies have shown that staying mentally stimulated helps to slow the progress of Dementia.

I remember those days when I was competing with my elder brother on how many James hardly chase novels we’ve read. But today, the reading habit is slowing going away but don’t forget to inculcate the habit of reading good books in your children. You will be building a solid intelligent children that can confidently stand out and shine anywhere they are.

Make sure you choose your circle of friends that influence you positively. Good influence shapes who you will become.
