Polishing the branding ✨⁣

Emma loved her logo but it wasn’t high res enough for printing and sometimes appeared a different colour. She was considering a brand refresh too so chose my branding choice package so she could choose between something entirely different or a rework of her current logo, which she went for.⁣
⁣
Alongside the rework, I introduced a new complementary colour palette that she can roll out across all her collateral, ensuring it’s all consistent and recognisable. ⁣

🎙 Interview with Sherrie Higgins 🤍

Sherrie is a professional photographer helping female business owners step in front of the camera and get comfortable being the face of their brand.

Sherrie says, "It’s my mission on shoots to take women from “Oh god I hate having my pictures taken” to “Oh WOW is that me?”. When you feel confident and empowered, you step up and make bolder decisions that grow your business and show your customer how great you actually are. I've had the pleasure of having a mini-shoot with Sherrie and as someone who does NOT like photos of themselves, I was so delighted with what she captured! I felt super at ease (despite the weird positions I was put in 😂) and the resulting photos were hard to pick from!

Time for a refresh? 🌿

You wouldn't leave a dusty old dress in a shop window for years on end, would you? So why would you leave old images, broken links and out of date copy on your website?

The life that a refresh can breathe into your website, can't be underestimated! On a recent project, my client gained 125% more visitors. How did we do this?

✔ Improved the user journey
✔ Removed pages that were not required
✔ Updated the colour scheme and layout
✔ Ensured all the links were working correctly

My client enlisted my help because, although she knew how the backend of her site worked and she could do this herself, she was lacking the time to dedicate to it and couldn't visualise the overall finished look that she wanted. Your Sunday reminder 🤍

Trust yourself... this is quite hard sometimes when self-doubt creeps in, along with a dose of imposter syndrome (she's lurking in the shadows all the time). But you have to trust yourself and your abilities because you've been managing thus far!

Go and have a look at your client testimonials, and if you don't have any yet - ask for them! It might even just be a WhatsApp message from someone who is appreciative of your hard work - that there is not only a boost of confidence but it's also social proof, so don't be afraid to use it!

Whatever you're working on - you absolutely CAN do this!

✨ Lesson learned ✨

As a marketing professional, I am *constantly* learning lessons along the way, banking experiences in my brain to make improvements.

HOWEVER, I do believe in learning as you go, taking messy action and coming out stronger for it. So, I took on a project that I thought was going to be simple enough, and priced it accordingly. It turned out that it mostly was, but there was one part of it that I just couldn't do on my own, no matter how much research I was doing, I could not find the answer.

This resulted in an expensive (comparatively to the cost of the overall project - although bloody good value) mistake on my part, and I'm lucky to have a great network of people that I can call on to help me out if I need it.

The lesson learned here is to stick to your zone of genius - which for me, is smooth running of marketing systems such as social media, email and websites (and indeed events). Next time I come across a similar project, I'll be referring out to the amazing people in my network that have the skills!

Going viral is 💩 when you're trying to build a solid business

Building a brand requires:

✅ Consistency
✅ Cohesiveness
✅ A holistic approach

No point in having one post or video going viral if you're getting lots of Joe Public followers that aren't your target audience.

No point in putting all your eggs in one basket creating funny reels but neglecting your website.

No point in getting loads of likes on one piece of content but not putting in any effort to nurture your mailing list with *actual* valuable information.

You are busy, so let's focus on what really needs done: consistent, brand-building across a variety of marketing channels 🤝🏼 holistic approach.

Your Sunday reminder 🤍

What is holding you back from realising your dreams? I appreciate you need a dose of reality sometimes so we're not pretending we can do anything at all. However - if you can't do the BIG thing, what small thing can you do to start your journey there?

For example, if you want to quit your 9-5 job and work for yourself: can you start a side-hustle in your spare time? It can start as an hour per evening working on setting up your social media, learning new skills and working out what your service or product is going to be. You were going to spend at least an hour watching something on Netflix anyway, right?

Trust me, I know - this is how I started out... am I at the end BIG goal yet? No! But I'm a lot further down the path than I was at the start... are you going to take the first step?

Hashtags won me a client ✨

I am the first to say don't stress about hashtags, and I stand by it. The key with hashtags is to be *specific*

How did my client find me? She searched on Instagram

That's it. I had a bunch of other hashtags that I used on a regular basis, including

But she needed a social media manager and she wanted someone local. So that's what she searched for - it's definitely not rocket science!

Would she have found me otherwise? Probably. But I made it easier for her by using *specific* and *relevant* hashtags. I am not only a social media manager, but it's a big part of what I do, so I choose to keep it in my list of regular hashtags. I don't only work for local businesses, but I like to, so I keep in local hashtags.
