Regular radio/podcast show of Celtic and roots music, hosted by Raymond McCullough in Co. Celtic, folk, folk/rock, mountain/Appalachian, bluegrass, Scottish, Irish, Breton/Breizh, Cajun, Cape Breton, singer/songwriter – if you enjoy Celtic, roots or acoustic music, you'll find it here – on Celtic Roots Radio! Celtic Roots Radio began with two podcasts in September 2008. Eventually a third episode
was added in May 2009 and the show began to take off. From the second episode, when I responded to Marc Gunn’s comment on his own podcast, when he said that ‘Raymond McCullough is from North Ireland,’ I decided to refute this common American idea, saying, ‘there’s no such place as North Ireland’, etc. Listeners seemed to like the ‘craic’ and so I kept on doing it – and they kept on listening and sent me encouraging messages about how much they enjoyed the music – and especially the craic. Some even seemed to think they were learning the ‘language’ – to which I replied, ‘What language do you think you are learning – the Irish language, Ulster-Scots, or Elizabethan English – all of which tend to get mixed freely throughout the show. Sometimes I think of a suitable topic in advance and ramble on about that, other times I just make it up as I go along – not knowing how it’s going to end up! Most of the music was obtained through artists and bands submitting their music on SonicBids.com – until they changed how they did things and stopped paying me, that is! I am converting CRR to YouTube (& Facebook) versions – to reach even more listeners There are currently 74 episodes of CRR (with more to come) – hope you all enjoy them!
