Veteran Derry Republican and former @derrysinnfein councillor Tony Hassan sadly died today (aged 78).
Tony was first elected to Derry City Council in the late 1990s before stepping down from the role in 2018.
His remains were carried to the Shantallow Republican Monument this afternoon, where the Irish tricolour was placed over his coffin.

Due to a report of an insecure building, Butcher Street in Derry is currently closed to traffic and pedestrians. Magazine Street, Fahan Street and Waterloo Street in the same area are also partially closed.
Police in the city are advising people to avoid the area.

Derry workers in mass demonstrations at Guildhall Square for fair pay
Today's march through #Derry, organised by @ipscderry, was in support of the #Palestinian people.
Demonstrators were addressed at the Guildhall by a number of speakers including: Becca Bor, Jews for Palestine; Majida Al-Askari, Buncrana Palestine Support Group; Niall McConnell, Derry Trades Union Council; Tony Doherty, chair of the Bloody Sunday Trust; Kate Nash, Bloody Sunday March Committee. A poem was also read by poet Abby Oliveria.
