Thousands of people marched through the streets of Derry today in support of the Palestinian people. The Derry IPSC organised march set off from the Waterside Train Station before making its way across the Craigavon Bridge and through the city centre until it reached Guildhall Square. The march was attended by local politicians, community groups and sporting clubs.
Demonstrators were addressed at the Guildhall by a number of speakers including: Becca Bor, Jews for Palestine; Majida Al-Askari, Buncrana Palestine Support Group; Niall McConnell, Derry Trades Union Council; Tony Doherty, chair of the Bloody Sunday Trust; Kate Nash, Bloody Sunday March Committee. A poem was also read by poet Abby Oliveria.
Tonight Derry children sang, gave speeches read the UN Rights of the Child at a vigil in Guildhall Square for the children of #Palestine on #worldchildrensday
