We have been keeping check on the temperatures this week and moving clients around to early morning / late evenings to avoid the blistering heat for our furry friends.
Heat stroke is a real threat so please avoid walking during peak hours - Where walk times are not able to change, we automatically shift to a dog sitting (and play) service. We visit to let your pet out for a toilet break, refresh water/food and supervised play in their own garden during our VIP's allotted times.
Your pet's well being is our main concern!
Please make water and towels available so we can cool them off and leave them with a cool damp towel to lay on where cooling mats are unavailable.
Tips:
5 seconds rule: Prevent blisters and thermal burns on paws "Place the back of your hand on the pavement. If you cannot hold it for five seconds, it's too hot to walk your dog."
Frozen Kong toys are a great way to keep them occupied with something cold at home, you can hide wet food in them, freeze over night and they thaw out during the day giving your pooch a food puzzle for stimulus. (wash and dry after)
Ventilate your rooms with open window and/ or Fans (out of reach) to circulate the air.
Damp/wet towels or cooling mats on the floor for them to lay on.
Fresh cool water should always be available during the day.
