Do you copy the same content from Instagram to Facebook? It is a great way to cut corners and save time, isn't it? You are covering two platforms with only half the work! But you might need to rethink this strategy. Here's why...
- You may find many of your followers are following your accounts on both Facebook and Instagram. If they discover that your content is identical on the two platforms, they may stop following one of your accounts. There is not much point following two accounts if they post the same content!
- You may find you have slightly different audiences across the two platforms, and content that appeals to one group may not appeal to the other. Make sure you know who your target audience is on each platform, and adjust your content accordingly.
- If you share images directly from Insta to Facebook you may end up with them cropped oddly and your pictures will not look good. Key wording may be chopped off.
Different content works better on each of the two platforms. Here are some examples of what works well on each:
🌸 Instagram
- Images are really important on Instagram - stylish photos of products, places and people work extremely well
- Hashtags are still important for improving your reach
- Lives and Reels - be brave and try them!
- Use Stories to promote posts, share posts from other people, and to share one-off fun content
🌸 Facebook
- You can use more informal imagery on Facebook
- Facebook content should tell a story and engage your audience
- Use Facebook Groups to boost your reach eg. local area Groups, Groups with a common interest
- Irresistible questions work well and spark conversation
- Too many hashtags can look 'spammy' so do not copy your list of hashtags from Instagram. Do your research and choose carefully
