My response from netomnia which it pretty unbelievable:
Good Morning Susan,
Thank you for your email. Please be advised that your objection has been noted by Netomnia.
We are bringing gigabit-speed Internet connectivity to almost every home and business in Carlisle. Our future-proofed, reliable Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) network will allow residents to access faster broadband than that of the traditional copper networks.
The UK is working fast to roll-out new fibre broadband networks across the country, and with our private investment, we are leading the way to support a digital United Kingdom, particularly in areas that other providers have not chosen to connect. Our investment will support local employment, businesses and education - creating a better future for you and your family.
Carlisle was an area of interest for us, as we identified that the majority of the area still relies heavily on the copper network. We hope to reach over 1 million premises by 2024, to make sure that areas like yours can still receive connection with the ever looming ‘copper switch off’ declared by Ofcom.
In your area, our highly qualified planners sighted that the only viable option to connect your street was by using telephone poles. When deploying a new network, there are many things that our designers take into consideration – the existing infrastructure, space in the highway, permit approvals, minimal disruption, speed and cost to name a few.
Whilst I appreciate that this will not appease the fact that the equipment has been installed, I do hope that our intent and plan to provide connectivity to your community, where others haven’t, is understood and welcomed.
We will always try to limit the amount of new street furniture that is being installed and take the utmost consideration when planning the placement. We are restricted on the span of the pole, but will ensure that they are placed in the least disruptive position, which our team have done with this new pole. We are unable to relocate the pole in the suggested location as it would not meet our span requirements for this section of network.
Please do be assured that the placement of a pole will never restrict the views out of your property, or block access. Much like the street light in your image, the pole is visible but it does not block your view.
Your objection has been noted, and should you wish to take it further, please see the Communications Act 2003 for further information.
Kind regard,
Hannah MacArthur
