14 years with Latest TV ! Thousands of videos made, thousands of News reports, and tons of mini documentaries, TV format, Shows, ads...
So many I can't remember them all! .. Here's a brief story of Latest TV in my life, a journey up in memory lanes!

Latest TV (born from the eccentric mind of Bill Smith started as a Youtube channel in the winter of 2010
At the time I was "coordinator" of the activities and effectively managing, with Bill Smith in command, all the small realities of curious coming from all over Brighton willing to create videos for this new born idea.
Me and Matt Whistler , instead of writing, preparing, orchestrate and organise, we just met on the road, me with a camera, and Matt!
That was more than enough for the 2 of us to create effectively the first ever video branded Latest TV, where Matt comedy genius interacted with a bunch of strangers on the seafront ending with a splash in the kids pool!
The team got bigger and we all put a lot of effort to create local interest through eclectic artistic and daring videos!
My contribution went from the Nuit Blanche in France to Ed Sheeran at Shakedown Festival to McCartney multi million viewers interview ; filming, directing and editing was becoming my first life!
Shortly after, Bill ingenious mind managed to win the first ever TV Licence for Brighton and Hove! .. Latest TV was born! It was September 2012.

The (late) Latest Music Bar became the first of its kind!
Just like the weekly magazine, LATEST HOMES on one side and Latest 7 on the other, Bill's idea of multi purposing media, expanded into the venue, that became a TV Studio, a Wedding venue and a bar with live music and more.

The enthusiasm of all of us was over the roof.
To compensate the very limited budget, we all put a lot of human resources in place and managed to have live news on tv! and a weekly magazine show carrying on the youtube born idea of Brighton Lights.

I directed in studio something like 42 episodes of Brighton Lights, with presenters such as Guy Lloyd and the dearest (late) Lynn Ruth Miller and Andrea Fox
interviews, live audience, live bands, all filmed with up to 8 cameras and video mixed as a live show !
It was a huge amount of work for all of us but it was fun and we all gain tons of experience.
Years past and the shrinking budget wouldn't allow any big team on the News, neither on the chat show.
The green screen TV studio format became a bit repetitive, but it was easy to manage and setup and what once were a team of 12, became a team of 2
(including the presenter!)
That's when I started filming independently outside of the studio a lot more.

From 2012 I started reporting on Brighton Fringe and the Artists Open Houses and I'm still doing it!
Countless interviews with at the time director Julian Caddy , tons of Fringe performers and Judy Stevens, director of the AOH and tons of artists.
And of course news!
The list is so long! but amongst the many, my top 3 will be the interviews I conducted with Yusuf / Cat Stevens , Fatboy Slim ( Norman Cook)and Gilbert & George and filmed with Michael Aspel , Wm Paul Young, Mike Read and Heather Mills , Julie Raven Burchill and many more!

Alongside short formats, I film and edit, very often alone, beautiful mini documentaries produced by Latest TV with various presenters.
Some example: a mini series of 3 on the Royal Pavilion, 2 episodes on Foraging around the UK, one on the starling murmuration by and with Dr Marc Abrams OBE, The Great Green Wall of Brighton by and with Farrell

But also on the anarchist Kropotkin , a cycle tour around Sussex, on the Brighton Tattoo Convention and even on Su***de prevention through skating.

Some of my footage, was also used for "Granny's gone wild" and for the documentary about the construction of the Brighton i360 ( I was amongst the first humans to climb it :))

Besides searching, interviewing, filming editing and distributing hundreds of news items every year ( I know right!... ) I more recently film and edit 21 episodes of the Electric Show with Bill Murray and Harrison Hughes now circulating nationally.

Countless of News reports took most of my time, from the demolition of the Albion Hotel to the restoration of the Hippodrome, Brighton & Hove Pride - Official Page, London to Brighton Electric Vehicle Rally and EV Rally Club - Organisers of the London to Geneva EV Rally 2024, Fringe, Tatoos, stories of charities, people, pubs..cats!..
I've covered them all for Latest TV News!
So much that most people around Brighton knew me as "The Latest TV Guy" and some even though I own it!!!
( The answer is not.. I don't!! )

Another hat I was wearing was the one to create ads for the channel; I film and edit Ads for Brighton & Hove City Council , Brighton & Hove Buses , Brighton Palace Pier .
As well as, less exciting and quite challenging, corporate and training videos.

The journey so far has been challenging but full of personal rewards and , although no journey comes without regrets and mistakes, I would do it all over again ( with some minor adjustment!!!)

The enthusiasm and energy that surrounded those early days of Latest TV have left a lasting impact on me. Even as budgets shrank and teams grew smaller, the passion for creating engaging content never faded. The evolution from a YouTube channel to a fully licensed TV station was a remarkable journey, and I’m proud to have been a part of it.
I’ve had the privilege of working with some incredible people, from local talent to international stars. Each project, whether big or small, contributed to the vibrant media landscape in Brighton and Hove. The challenges we faced only made us more resourceful and creative.
Looking back, it’s amazing to see how much we accomplished with so few resources. We didn’t just make TV; we built a community around storytelling, creativity, and local culture. It’s a legacy that I hope will continue to inspire future generations of content creators.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Whether you’ve watched our shows, collaborated on a project, or just supported us from afar, your involvement has made all the difference. Here’s to many more years of creativity and collaboration!

Tonight 18th of July come over to the Big Beach Cafe at 7pm 'for a DJs tribute Party to celebrate the life and work of the late Pete Hayward AKA Mr Haywood.

It’s with sadness that we have to pass on the news that Pete Haywood has passed away after losing his fight with cancer.
Mr Haywood was not only a DJ at Wild Fruit, a one-off club night which ended up going for more than fifteen years across various venues throughout Brighton. He was a producer and designer who created record sleeves, club logos and fliers which became part of the zeitgeist of “The E Generation” and beyond.
A film of him discussing his work with Fatboy Slim,Wham, The Stones, Kylie, Paul Kemp of Wild Fruit, and so much more was made as a tribute to the creative genius that Pete possessed

On Wednesday 3rd of July Latest TV will be airing the William Ranieri production 'Draconian' about the anti-homosexuality laws introduced in Uganda in 2023 which are still being fought agaisnt today.
After some time spent in the US with a right wing political lobbying group known as The Family Ugandan MP David Bahati went back to Uganda and proposed a "Kill the Homosexual" law to be written into the country's statute.
After the World Bank froze payments to Uganda following the passing of the law, Bahati amended the ex*****on clause so it only remains enforceable in cases of "aggravated homosexuality", but discrimination against homosexuality remains legal.
