David Stevens UK based Producer and Musician had an idea a couple of years ago to do an Album of Klassic soul songs and original soul songs using all the top session musicians and singers in the UK. People that he had worked with many times for many years. The Klassics are a Group of Musicians made up from UKs top session players and singers.
Their first single When you get right down to it by The Delfonics, was recorded live during Covid as it was the only time all these greats were free, so each musician and singer used their own home studio to record their parts and then they were sent to producer David Stevens where he did his magic and put it all together.
After the first single release which was greatly received and was included on many radio stations play list including the BBC. Everyone was desperately waiting for the follow up single, however Lockdown was over, and all these great musicians were back on the road and didn’t have time, but thankfully now they have found time to record the new single.
The Klassics
Tim Cansfield / GuitarsA professional musician since 1980 and has been a regular member with Swing Out Sister since their 1989 release, Kaleidoscope World. Other artists that he has worked with include the Bee Gees, Steve Winwood, Elton John, Heaven 17, Billy Preston, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Seal, and Matt Bianco, and he has also collaborated with and currently touring with Barry Gibb
Randy Hope Taylor /Bass Randy Hope-Taylor is a groove powerhouse, best known for his work with Incognito and Jeff Beck. He's also recorded and performed with such artists as Jamiroquai, Chaka Khan and Al Green. Randy has also toured the world four times with guitar god Jeff Beck and played on Jeff's Who Else and You Had it Coming albums.
Trevor Murrell/ Drums Known as one of the World’s greatest drummers, Kevin Ayers, Joe Cocker, The Bee Gees, Sade, Daryll Hall, Kim Wilde, Wham, George Michael, Des´ree, Matt Bianco, Boy George, Grace Jones, John Miles, Tina Turner.
Caroline Stevens /Vocals Started recording at the tender age of 14 went on to be one of the UKs top session singers working and recording with Tavares The Bee Gees Barry Manilow, Glen Campbell Willie Nelson Dolly Parton and also part of the BBC Orchestra as a singer.
David Stevens / Keyboards ProductionKeyboards and Producer worked with Bogaz, Clem Curtis and the Foundations, Jimmy James and the Vagabonds, The Drifters, Tayo Hendrix, Carl Douglas. As a record producer David has had hit records in the top twenty itunes charts.
Johnny Douglas JD is a superstar writer/ producer/ mixer and credited to over 70 million record sales. Including George Michael, Fast Love, Lets Go Outside, Amazing which he co-wrote with George as well as Producing. Kylie Minogue, Tina Turner and more. He has done his magic alongside Producer David Stevens on the new Klassics up and coming single.
