HAIL, Glorious St Patrick!

What a day! THANK YOU to everyone who helped us make St Patrick's Festival Birmingham 2019 another one to remember.

If you braved the mad auld weather - whether you were part of the parade or part of the crowds roadside - youre the best!

We'll be posting more photos and videos from yesterday over the next 24 hours, but for now here's a grand shot of the man, the Dublin legend that is Finbar Furey playing one of two magical sets to a capacity crowd at our St Pat Rocks stage at Zellig.

We send heaps of gratitude to the performers, artists, sponsors, partners, venues, stewards, fundraisers, traders, bar staff, volunteers, emergency services, security, and most of all YOU our gorgeous St Patricks Festival Birmingham supporters!

You came out in your tens of thousands once again for a day celebrating Ireland and the Irish - and we love yous all!

'My role in all of this is to make people forget about some of the other bo****ks that’s going on in the world. Dance music’s never been there to shout and change the world, in the way that rock music can be quite political. Instead, it’s always been there to provide the option of opting out, and just saying “Y’know what, screw changing the world just give me a couple of hours off, where I can just lose myself and forget about the ways of the world”.'

DJ, producer and dance music pioneer Fatboy Slim spoke to Brum Notes writer Gareth Griffiths ahead of a major show at Arena Birmingham on Friday 22 February - with the city's own Hannah Wants in support.
