and commands a wonderful view of Barrowford Park just opposite, situated at the heart of this charming and vibrant community. The White Bear Inn was constructed in the early 17th Century (although many believe it to have been around for about a hundred years earlier even than that!) and allegedly takes its name from the savage sport of bear baiting which was popular back then and may well have taken place in the cobbled forecourt - now thankfully a beer garden!
